Sorry to dissapoint you Fishinwrench; however, the truth is that all of the cats were caught close to my home on the Missouri and Mississippi River systems and were released unharmed (including the fish on the stringer you smart arse Fishinwrench) which was for a fish pic because at the time we didn't have any water in the 60gal livewells. I only fish rod & reel and I guide as well on the upper Mississippi River from May thru Aug. I've never jugged, trott lined or snagged in my life but it would be nice to snag and kill some of those damn jumpin' big heads/asians & silvers. I was fortunate to have learned allot about fishing current and particularly big rivers from a couple of G3 Yamaha pro's as well as the current world record holder.

Let's see what "giant" fish pic's you have Fishinwrench? You don't even want me to bust out with the largemouth and kentucky pics do ya? It will shame you I guarantee.......Post them pic's of yours or quit your trash talking cause I don't have time to entertain it anymore.

Wack... have you registered on our new forum yet? http://midstatesanglers.com Need anglers/guides like you over there taking about the Missouri and Mississippi Rivers.

Thanks for posting!

Phil

It is not the best trout lake in the world. Having lived in Germany and fished a lot I can tell you there are better lakes for trout, bows and browns.

I hear that. I have never fished there, but honestly, Lake Diefenbacher is on the list, along with any number of Lochs in Britain and in Europe. I wouldn't even count Taney as a trout lake, since it is riverine, but that is my opinion.

Anyway, I want to say that smallmouth and walleye are native to the Taneycomo area, yet, with Table Rock Dam, they were displaced with the trout stocking.

Not really, unless you got some over 12.8

Look, I complimented your fish Dude, they are great. And the fact that the one (biggest) cat was caught on R&R you got me beat there. YOU DA'MAN !

BTW, you were the one that got all cocky about it, not Me. I just gave you grief for eating Smallies because that's the way I roll And I'm not going to apologize for it, nor am I going to enter into a pic contest with you in front of everyone here because it would make me look petty and bigheaded. Besides, I'd be up scanning old kodak photo's and tournament results all nite, which is something I actually need to do someday but it isn't worth it to me at the moment.

Believe it or not I've been at this WAY before digital cameras, the internet, and "the movie.

No worries wrench...12.8lbs....in Missouri? Wow...I've never got a bass quite that big. My largest bass caught in Missouri waters anyway is 10lbs even and she was caught in 1996 out of no other than LOZ Gravois arm. Things always get silly with regards to email postings and their translation so don't worry about it.

I must say that I've never had smallmouth but a local I ran into while fishing Upper Taney told me that smallies are his absolute favorite fish to eat. No thats crazy insane right there! :-)

Hey thanks Phil...I will look into that. How's Taney looking right now? I'll be down there in about 10days or so with my gal and our boat. Probably gonna have to make it over to your place to say hello. Thanks!

I usually fish on TRock for bass but I want to try fishing for both bass and trout. With the corps running water off and on I thought I would try boating lower Taney and do both. I like flyfishing for trout too. What are the general best locations for bass on lower Taney (without giving up your specific honey holes understood)? Thanks.

Do you want C&R in the trophy area only, so that you can keep and kill in the lower lake? Taney is a trout lake, quit trying to make it something else. TR and BS are the smallmouth lakes.

WOW Taney COULD use some Warm Water enhancement, walleyes and SmallMouth even pike or muskies would do VERY VERY well in Taney people would spend BIG money on pike one of the few fish not available in Missouri, rock bass red ear sunnies would be a nice additon as well

MONKEYS? what monkeys?

Musky and pike I think would be a very bad idea. Look what the introduction of northerns did to the trout populations in some streams in Colorado. Those species would probably do alright in Taney, I'll admit it. But I think it is a cold water lake where the trout population needs to be the first and last management consideration, and I personally think that introducing any species that may lower the trout population would be bad for both the fishing and the local economy in general.

jmho

By the way, I would be all for smallmouth and walleye stocking. Those would provide another dimension to the fishery without hurting the trout population much if at all.
