How about on line shows...

I'm wanting to do something on line. Just getting ideas. Thanks.

I have not watched any on-line shows, mainly because I don't really know anything about them. Any suggestions?

I never missed an episode of Fish ON! It was on ESPN2 in the early 00's. It wasn't educational at all. I think they caught one, maybe two fish an episode, but the women that caught them were some "fine" fisherman. ;)

Phil, I'll dedicate a day (still have quite a bit of "free" time) to looking for on-line shows and maybe pick 10 and start a poll.

Just to add a little more......I think to be a succesful show, it must be well rounded. Pretty fish, good scenery, education about every aspect of fishing from technique to insects, to surroundings. If I want to watch some goober reel in fish after fish, I will go to Roaring River. It is the even mix of many things and not the over abundance of one thing.

My idea of a good fishing show would be watching the bassmasters classic.......it's realistic. The guys aren't ALWAYS reeling in monsters, and they don't spend half of the show trying to promote a new "revolutionary" lure.

Plus it's exciting and competitive.

and it's very educational in the sense that these professionals are using their go-to baits, and go-to spots, fishing their go-to techniques in order to try and win the tournament. They aren't fishing a certain lure, because some company paid them 20 grand to promote it.

I always enjoyed In-Fisherman. The Lindners were instructional along with providing info on fishing three species per episode. I'm sitting here and can't think of the name of his show now... Angling Edge or something? Show content is much the same as before though.

Phil .... I think Dano nailed it ..... instructional ..... patterns .... methods/techniques .... riggin' .... gear .... seasons .... locations .... and I really like the "reading water" idea. The scenery is good for spot lead-ins and fade outs. PC

My 2 cents - I wanted to make sure that I understood drop shotting so I googled it.

It took me to a website called ehow.com - I have since used the site to explore other fishing methods. One thing that I like is that it is specific to what I am looking for. What I dont like is many times the video is just not that great quality and the close ups are blurry etc.

Another thing that would be helpful is if the instructions were downloadable that way I can take them on my laptop and watch them when I am supposed to be working :P

I think it was Jeremy Resnick who posted a video on the forum about catching trout while fly-fishing and feeding line downstream. I'm sure a lot of you guys who fly-fish have done that. I don't fly fish, probably should give it a shot, but I sure enjoyed that video. Just wanna say I've caught many a nice smallmouth in the rivers using the same technique with a spincaster.

That's what I love about this forum, the learning part of it. Plus the great group of people!

Jeremy Hunt is who posted it, but that is exactly what I am talking about. His downstream technique video was excellent. My only problem with Internet based video is the poorer quality and small size that makes viewing with these old eyes difficult. I would prefer a more full frame format for watching them.

His name was Easley, wasn't it? He tried to teach a little, he tried to show places his audience probably hadn't been, and he was always a good, kind, and admirable man. I loved that show.

Modern? In Fisherman tries to teach - in between the sponsor based goodies.

Now days, I just watch Bill Dance bloopers on youtube.
