ColdWaterFshr Posted August 10, 2009 Posted August 10, 2009 Paul Dallas is the name. Allow me to tell you a little bit about myself. Many a year I toiled in the fishing industry (BASS circuit, guide service, TV Show, etc) but this was way back when you short-shavers were probably still riding your Big Wheels and stealing sticks of Dentene out of your maws purse. In my hey-day my greatness was eclipsed by none other than my 1st cousin Jimmy Houston, who stole my fame and fortune and his evil cackle when he catches a fish is foever etched on my brain. I know what it feels like to be stold from, and the trecherous steep ravine down into a life of drugs, alcohol, and yes, even prostitutes. I can speak on these subjects, and many more, because like Bill Babbler, I have walked the walk and can talk the talk. I have had the finest decals adorn my glitter boats and trucks. And I have had the finest polyester shirts and finest sponsor patches worn proudly across my breast. Many a weigh-in have I tipped the scale with the "big one" and won the boat and the 6-figure purse. I have been in newspapers, magazines, TV round the globe, Wheaties boxes and I have kept company with Hollywood stars. And I was in the room when Nixon resigned. I have even danced real slow with Kathy Lee. Yes, I have seen it all boys. And its a rough way to make a buck. One minute, you're bending the tops of the trees, the next minute, you're waking up drooling on a pillow case in some cheap motel with a burnt out sign, smelling like garlic/anise chomper and McCormicks gin. Indeed, pros and guides, 2 things the fishing world could do without.

Funny thing the internet, in a matter of seconds you can check the history of all the BASS and FLW / Redman events of all time. Know what.... No Paul Dallas ... of course you knew that.. So as to the rest of your boasts, opinions and other meaningless information and posts....... Oh, wait...... this is more of the side splitting comedy you were using earlier...... Man, you are so funny....... or just pitiful...... or really just irrelevant See Ya..... ness Posted August 10, 2009 Posted August 10, 2009 Holy crap...Paul Dallas! I remember you from the old Conservation Cafe. Sir, your reputation precedes you, at least for a few of us. Boys -- this guy is the real deal. But maybe not in the way you're used to thinking about it. May I respectfully suggest you fellers relax, listen and learn. John
Members Troutfly69 Posted August 10, 2009 Members Posted August 10, 2009 This happens everyday on lots of bodies of water and 90% of the people it happens to are NOT guides. We all need to acknowledge the fact that our waters are getting more crowded and some of these folks don't hold the same standards as the rest of us. Add to that the fact that TR is a popular tourist destination where many of the fisherman are not familiar with the lake and you end up with followers. I have a couple of close friends that are trout guides and they go through the same thing (maybe even worse) but what you have to keep in perspective is that these tourists are the same ones enabling you to do something you enjoy for a living. Without the local tourism you wouldn't have a clientel. Right or wrong it will continue to happen and it will get worse not better so stop complaining and go on with life. I don't think it's right , but I don't feel any more sympathy for you than I do the average Joe that gets crowded out of his spot by these same people , maybe less. We only get a limited time to enjoy our fishing habits and you guys spend every day doing something you enjoy. If you're really good at what you do then just smile and head off around the corner knowing that the SPOT you left is one of many on the lake holding fish. I contend with these same folks on my too far and few between weekend trips and have learned to accept it as I suggest you should , otherwise find a profession that doesn't involve guiding for a living.

'This happens everyday on lots of bodies of water and 90% of the people it happens to are NOT guides." Yep, happens even more when there is a rod bent in the boat. You guys are great....... "We only get a limited time to enjoy our fishing habits and you guys spend everyday doing something you enjoy." That's the best justification I've heard so far to crowd a guide or anyone off a spot. "....just smile and head off around the corner knowing that the SPOT you left is one of many on the lake holding fish...." Yea, darn it your a guide you know where the fish are, now move and let me catch those and you can go to another spot! "I content with these same folks on my too far and few between weekend trips and have learned to accept it and I suggest you should......" Dude, I contend with it everyday..... doesn't make it right.... You all keep saying the guides on here should shut up and stop complaining, The title of this thread is Replying to a Strange Email. Bill got a complaint from one of you fine folks that Don and I had made mention of folks following and moving in on us on the water. We responded and all hell broke loose You'd like us to shut up, no problem..... you may well get your wish sir Outstanding.... S&M Posted August 10, 2009 Posted August 10, 2009 Post deleted for the betterment of the members. As well as my membership on this website. How do I deal with those who ignore the 50 yard encroachment rule?......I show them just how accurate I am with a crank bait!
