eric1978 Posted November 16, 2009 Posted November 16, 2009 (You do know you can get a mount from a picture now, right? Catch that monster and take a pic, then toss em back and give me a chance at him?) ...and its a lot cheaper! And they look better, too!
oneshot Posted November 17, 2009 Posted November 17, 2009 Yea last time I was in to see my Taxidermist brought him $1,800 worth of work he was more than happy to talk about Fish Mounts.I asked him about Replicas like he said anymore they look good and can be easly fixed if anything happens I sure will go that way. Its hard for me to Judge weight in the Water all I know is this one was a Hoss and give the best fight I had in years so even if I didn't net her it was major fun. oneshot

Wayne SW/MO Posted November 17, 2009 Posted November 17, 2009 I wonder if it was a brood fish or a long time resident? Do they put any brood fish in the river, anyone know? Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
eric1978 Posted November 17, 2009 Posted November 17, 2009 Are you at all interested in my (recently developed) "Adopt a Man-Child" Program? lol LOL Cricket! Since I've never dreamed of keeping a trophy fish, I've come to accept photos as very sufficient souvenirs of your best catches. A perfect example is the photos Bman posted of his son Matt holding that awesome male rainbow he caught on Saturday. To me, that's a much more moving image than a dried up dead fish or a hunk of painted plastic hanging on the wall. Not only do you see what the fish looked like in reality, you get to see the look of satisfaction on the angler's face and also the beautiful setting in which he caught the fish. A photo will evoke more memories for the angler, and admirers of your trophy will have a better understanding of your experience. Not only that, but the fish gets to live. The big fellas get that way for a reason, and we should keep all the good genes in a river we can...you know, with natural selection and all. For the cost of a single taxidermist bill, you can get yourself a very adequate digital camera. Buy a Pelican case to keep it dry and protected, and you've got yourself a lifetime of documentation of all your favorite moments on the water, not just the big fish of the trip. With the incredible quality photos you can achieve with a very modestly priced camera these days, you can get some really nice images blown up and still be very clear. Have it matted and framed by a professional, and invite your friends over and start bragging.

FishinCricket Posted November 17, 2009 Author Posted November 17, 2009 Alright, Oneshot.. You don't have to adopt me if you don't want to.. I wonder if it was a brood fish or a long time resident? laker67 Posted November 17, 2009 Posted November 17, 2009 I wonder if it was a brood fish or a long time resident? Do they put any brood fish in the river, anyone know? A long time resident at bennett is one that survives opening day or derby day. Very few survive an entire season. There is only one fish there right now that would qualify. It was turned out at the same time of the record brown from last year. If the fish that oneshot hooked weighed upwards of 15 pounds, then it was the resident fish.
fishinwrench Posted November 17, 2009 Posted November 17, 2009 wonder if it was a brood fish or a long time resident? Do they put any brood fish in the river, anyone know? The giggers could probably tell you I haven't caught, or seen one caught, that was over 18" since 2004 from the river. And it was far enough down (below Prosperine) that I'm sure it was a feral. Last year in the Spring Branch there was a monster of a Rainbow in the bluff hole, and a gargantuan Brown below Whistle. Both looked as long as my leg when they were in the water. What is the all time record from Bennett anyway ? I have forgotten.
laker67 Posted November 17, 2009 Posted November 17, 2009 What is the all time record from Bennett anyway ? I have forgotten. The all time record brown trout for bennett is an 18 pound 5 ounce caught by jack buschacher in 08. The all time record rainbow is a 15 pound even caught by myself in 92. I landed the rainbow on 7x umpqua tippet.
