drew03cmc Posted December 12, 2009 Posted December 12, 2009 And I expressed my opinion.... It wasn't a "rule violation". Or, Eric, you could say it was the brown's fault. Come on... you know that's what the underlying feeling are about this ordeal. You're mad that that stupid brown took a piece of power bait instead of someone's fly, jig or crank bait. The man had nothing to do with the fish taking the bait. He was looking for rainbows to eat. A big stupid brown ate the power bait, he fought the brown and netted it and thus was thrown into the lime light of the angling world of forums and coffee shop talk where he's battered for catching the brown on power bait when he actually had no choice in the matter. As soon as he hooked the fish, he had a choice... land the sucker and be ridiculed for using power bait or break it off and be free of the upcoming hoard of critics. OK, I'm being overdramatic. But you get my jest. It was the fish's fault! We have NO respect for that 28.8 pound brown - right!? Me, no. I find it tough to respect a fish that was grown in a fish tank. That is like throwing a party when you drop your hook in your aquarium at home and catch a guppy. Andy

Wayne SW/MO Posted December 12, 2009 Posted December 12, 2009 Me, no. I find it tough to respect a fish that was grown in a fish tank. Describe this fish tank? Who feeds and protects them in this "Fish Tank"? Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.

Did you ever catch a 20 plus brown out of this fish tank? Whether it be by accident or on purpose, only a couple of handfuls of people have. Maybe it's not quite Argentina, but it's plenty challenging. Come on down, we'll give it a try.
Members Robert Posted December 12, 2009 Members Posted December 12, 2009 I've always liked this story.. http://www.whiteriver.net/northfork/manleys.htm Record fish usually dont come to those who want them the most. And thats a good thing...I also see no reason to knock any of the folks who have been unfortunate enough to catch one...Seems that somebody will always find fault with your catch, or fault you for taking it home...Plain Silliness, IMO. Life gets a heck of alot easier if you dont take it to seriously..Quit trying to find fault, and be glad for other folks when good things happen to them. Cheers. Congratulations to the new record holder. No matter what he did with the fish. It was his choice.
drew03cmc Posted December 13, 2009 Posted December 13, 2009 I will give it a try once or twice, however, I am partial to catching native fish in their waters. Wayne, the trout in Taneycomo are tended to by MDC. They are pet fish that happen to be pursued by anglers. Andy

No they drive a truck up to the bank and open the valve, and that's the last help they get. They don't feed them like Kansas does Channels. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.

Wayne, the trout in Taneycomo are tended to by MDC. They are pet fish that happen to be pursued by anglers. I felt like that until I got a fly rod and started catching trout. They may not be native, and on lakes like Taney and even more ridiculous places like Busch Wildlife it's definitely like shooting fish in a barrell, but man, it sure is fun...Especially in the winter when the warm water bite is slow. I'm still partial to smallmouth, but I'll take a tug on the line over nothing any day.
