Sam Posted December 15, 2009 Posted December 15, 2009 Mike - I'm more of a crappie fisherman than a bass fisherman, but in looking at that Razr Rods website I see they have a full line of American-made spinning rods too. Also, their home page shows a guy with a big ol' string of slab crappies - that's my kind of thing! I'm surprised to see that they're located on south Kimbrough in Springfield - about 15 miles from me. I wonder if they manufacture rods there, or if that's just a shipping center. Do you know? If that's where they make them, I'd sure like to stop by and see how it's done - especially if I'm thinking of investing $189. in a crappie pole.

Members Mike Mueller Posted December 15, 2009 Members Posted December 15, 2009 Sam, no the rods are not manufactured in Springfield. That is the address where the business is run from. The rods are manufactured in Tulsa, OK. The "Big Guy" that you're referring to is probably Captain Rick LaPoint - full time guide at Table Rock and the surrounding area. Rick is the designer of this rod and I'm sure that if you're interested in a great crappie rod, you can contact him and he'd be happy to show you a few...you won't be disappointed! You can email him at info@razrrods.com, or just follow the link on the Razrrod.com website. I know he'd be happy to help you and show you a rod or 3. Feel free to tell him I sent you. Hurry because there is FREE SHIPPING on Phone Orders until Dec 21st!!! (p.s. - You can also impress all of your crappie fishing buddies by having your rods personalized with your name...For FREE! Thanks, Sam...good luck and good fishing!
Fishing Buddy Don House Posted December 16, 2009 Fishing Buddy Posted December 16, 2009 I think the Rick Lapointe is the Razr guy around here. He is really nice and might even let you borrow a rod for a weekend. I believe they are made in Oklahoma by a master rod maker. Captain Don House's rods are made at the same place. The rod maker makes a large number of rods under different names. If you drop Don a PM he will meet you somewhere and show you the same rod as the Razr under a different name. Prepare to spend some time with hm though because he really believes in the product and is kind of long winded about it! Kidding Don! You will have to drop him a PM or look for him on Facebook, he doesn't come around here as much anymore. Ok, well I might be long winded, alright I'm long winded.. But they are really nice rods and a really good company that stands behind them.. They are made by Grandt Rod out of Chi-Town USA (www.grandtrods.com)... The Razor Rod is made by the same company as well.. Rick is the retailer selling these down here in this area he can take care of you with easy.. Just one of those things just like Mike Mueller states you just have to use one to really see how they work.. Also for those who are looking for a great Crappie Rod they have two or three models all depends on what you are looking for.. I really like the 8.0 UL Model myself very good rod.. Just go find one that you like and does what you need that is the ticket... Good Hunting and Enjoy, Spring is coming!!! Good Fishing Everyone.. Don Capt. Sincerely BB Thanks Mr. B and all of the Table Rock groupies and I hope everyone on the site has the best and the most Merry Christmas you can have!! As far as the shows go this year I'm really taking a year off, after 6 years in a row the Mrs. decided it was time for a year off and to stay home this winter... I have to really say I'm kinda glad to take a break and relax.. I do have a few little things booked this winter, I have demo day's at Bass Pro Spring Fishing Classic in Branson and Springfield for Ardent Reels in Late Feb and a small demo day show at Sport Boat USA in Ozark for G3 Boats Feb 3rd, I will be a guest on Don Berry's Radio show that day as well.. So folks don't have to go far to say Hello!! And really that is it, kinda nice!!! And while I'm hear. Had a full day trip yesterday wow what a cold day to start off, fishing was slow at best on the main lake, but by noon things really started to kick into gear again.. Tried small jigs, shakey jigs and split shot rigs which worked well on Wednesday, but Thursday I had to break out the box of Mega Bass Stickbaits and that was the only way I could get the bite! Pretty much stayed around K/C area and the Lower White all day. All of these fish were spots or small jaws and all came right on the flat pea gravel secondary points in the creek arms in about 10 - 15 feet of water.. I guess they just wanted a suspending bait?? Fast jerking motion was the ticket for the reaction bite.. By the way the fish were slamming the bait really alot of fun!! Merry Christmas to all and to all Good Fishing! Don Capt.
