As always, great report and video Phil. I always learn from you. What size hook do you use for nightcrawler fishing, and what action rod. I have changed to a medium light graphite 6 1/2' rod for drift fishing rather than the softer tipped fiberglass 6' I used to use. It seems like I can tell the difference in bumping the bottom and a bite better with the stiffer rod.

BTW do you have the date for the St. Louis County Parks Taneycomo seminar yet?

6-7 foot medium light rod is perfect. #8 or #6 hook.

I'll be at Queeney Park on Jan 12.

Nice work here Phil - here is a marketing thought - put these on a DVD and sell them on line or out of the store. It works for the Bass stuff :]

A question - is using this drift method better than the drift rig in that the trout are less likely to swallow the hook?

Thx,

Tough question. Usually they don't swallow the hook when drifting but it varies with amount of water running and chance. I doubt if there's much of a difference.

Bill and I were talking a few weeks ago while boating past your dock that you need one of those sucker tubes like the banks use. Have a drive threw slip and pull in and order say a few dozen crawlers. Put the money in the tube and presto have the crawlers delivered right to your boat. Of course I am kidding, but would still be neat.
