Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted January 6, 2010 Root Admin Posted January 6, 2010 I love to see pics like this... and hear about these trips. Thanks for sharing.
Gavin Posted January 6, 2010 Author Posted January 6, 2010 Joe, flies produced a bunch of fish last weekend, but the big ones came on jerkbaits.
joeD Posted January 6, 2010 Posted January 6, 2010 Big ones came on jerkbaits. Shocking. Boy, truer words have never been spoken. I know it's not pretty fishing, in the classic fly-fishing "A River Runs Through It" sense, but, it sure can be effective on those big browns. Well, at least you're out there doing it, I'm sure not. Thanks again.
ColdWaterFshr Posted January 6, 2010 Posted January 6, 2010 Paul wishes he could've been in attendance. Looks like another great WFT. Thanks for posting up the pictures and NICE fish!
Danoinark Posted January 6, 2010 Posted January 6, 2010 Excellent report and photos...thanks for sharing. Looks fun. Dano Glass Has Class "from the laid back lane in the Arkansas Ozarks"
ness Posted January 6, 2010 Posted January 6, 2010 I don't see senior in any of the pics, and the group looks smaller than normal... John
Gavin Posted January 6, 2010 Author Posted January 6, 2010 Ness, Senior passed the torch to Jr. this year. He still floats Baptist to Parker about every month of the year..but he's in his late 60's now and he's made it clear that he prefers a smaller group and warmer weather. Who can blame him after 30 years of winter floating? We had a bunch missing this year. Just a WAG but the float always goes on the first weekend after New Year, and I think a lot of folks had other committments due to New Years Day falling on a Friday. Cheers.
Snow Fly Posted January 7, 2010 Posted January 7, 2010 Gavin: You left Hargrove at home! After all he does wood fires........... "God gave fishermen expectancy, so they would never tire of throwing out a line"
Kicknbass Posted January 7, 2010 Posted January 7, 2010 You have a ton of gear. Do you take all that down river in the canoes, or do you have a base camp shuttling vehicles? Is that a wall tent and a wood stove? That's not exactly roughing it. Cool Stuff. " Too many hobbies to work" - "Must work to eat and play"
