duckydoty Posted February 4, 2010 Posted February 4, 2010 2 to 3 years ago there was massive fish kill on Dardenne near hwy K. That sewage plant dumped something in there and the fish were killed for miles downstream. They had pictures in a local paper around here and there were 1000's of dead fish piled up. Don't know if it's recovered, but I've often thought of fishing it, except it has high, steep, muddy banks. Judging by the dead fish photos it was loaded with fish. I just don't know where to fish it. Where did you fish Dardenne Ducky? I've caught carp at Creve Couer but no luck with bass. SIO3 I use to live in St. Charles Hills Subdivision. Would walk down to Hwy B then go down the old Haffer Bridge Rd. Would fish there where the old bridge was and all the flood waters around it. Use to have to leave a buck in a box to fish there. They've put in some new Super Highway system there now...I think it is called 370???? Where Hwy B crosses Dardenne Creek, there use to be a bar/tavern that would sell bait also. I think they rented jon boats for $3. Bought a lot of worms and 3.2 beer from there. A Little Rain Won't Hurt Them Fish.....They're Already Wet!! Visit my website at.. Ozark Trout Runners
snagged in outlet 3 Posted February 4, 2010 Posted February 4, 2010 Man Ducky I remember that. 3.2 beer on Sundays. We used to fish the slough on the road to the ferry at night too. I've fished that area near the old bridge. In fact one night we left my buddies car in that gravel lot right there and when we came back it had the tires flattened and the interior all cut up. We even caught eels out of that hole. Snagged
Chief Grey Bear Posted February 5, 2010 Posted February 5, 2010 Wow! I found it hard to believe that privte boats were not allowed, show I checked. And you guy's were right. That is the only CA that I know of that doesn't you to use your own craft. If you guy's see an agent the next time you are out there, I would be curious to know the reasoning behind this. Blind Pony doesn't allow private boats and has bait restrictions- their lake is a source of water for a hatchery, and they don't want it contaminated with nasties. I think Hazel Creek Lake, up near Kirksville, doesn't allow private boats either. eric1978 Posted February 5, 2010 Author Posted February 5, 2010 If you guy's see an agent the next time you are out there, I would be curious to know the reasoning behind this. The next time I bump into an agent out there, I'll ask because I'm really curious. I bet FG is right that it has something to do with the mussels. It obviously isn't a liability issue.
Chief Grey Bear Posted February 5, 2010 Posted February 5, 2010 I am thinking it must be something else. I may be wrong, but that just doesn't sound right. The only boat restriction that I know of on Hazel Creek is no gas motors may be used. You must use an electric motor (trolling motor). I just took a look at the reg for Blind Pony and I see there have been some major changes and since it is a source of water for the hatchery as gypsy states, I can agree with that. Let me know if you happen to find something out about Busch. ...privte boats were not allowed, show I checked..... Nice spelling huh? That should be.... private boats were not allowed, so I checked... What's really weird is eric didn't jump all over you about it. He does that from time to time. I thought you were just slurring. Â Â

BredMan Posted February 5, 2010 Posted February 5, 2010 I'm a cannon ball guy, and I used one at 28 today. Just saw the lake-28 pic on eric1978 original post and was wondering which hole belongs to him! Been out of town for a few days and wondered how the "February Madness" was going at Busch. Looks pretty typical. I guess those guys with the 5-gal buckets use them to bail water if they fall through the ice!
eric1978 Posted February 5, 2010 Author Posted February 5, 2010 Just saw the lake-28 pic on eric1978 original post and was wondering which hole belongs to him! You can't see my hole because it's right next to the bank. Someone else was kind enough to leave it for me. I'm not above making a desperation hole, I'm just not crazy enough to walk on two inches of ice.
