redbud Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 whatever happened to fishing for fun and relaxation. I dont have any more respect for a wrapped boat than a guy in a canoe. I launched at shell knob [as usual following the traffic flow that has been in place there as long as I can remember]and after I pulled my truck up and parked some little punk walks up and demands that I move my truck and trailer to the upper level. I politely told him to kiss my @$# and he freaked out.In my younger days he would have been in trouble. The only people who can talk to me like that are my wife and mother. Wisdom comes with age, I wanted to go fishing, not jail.I have been using that launch for more years than that punk has been alive.Excuse my rant but but I really believe that these guys are ruining our sport.Too much pressure and no fun makes for a tedious job.I have seen film of a pro breaking a rod over his knee and throwing it in the water because he had a fish come off near the boat. How is this entertainment? Why does it make the show?I fish to relax, get out in Gods natural world and hopefully catch a few while I am out.I have paid my taxes, served my country and helped preserve the freedom that some of these guys take for granted.I will not let them ruin my day,I will release a lunker and go home happy. Good luck out there and HAVE FUN. I feel better now ,thanks.
Bill Babler Posted March 3, 2010 Author Posted March 3, 2010 Sorry Redbud, I heard the same deal from another person, so you were not the only one. I would not let any of this ruin my fishing plans for the Rock this weekend If I wanted to fish Table Rock. Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't they have a cut down on Friday? I believe by this weekend, 2/3rds of them are gone. It will just leave the real players, and this lake eats 50 tournament boats. As far as the Ramps, they will be open now, except State Park. A couple of warm days, and these fish will explode. Might be very good this weekend. Bull Shoals is also fishing very nicely right now. Members Fat Boy Posted March 3, 2010 Members Posted March 3, 2010 If I understand things right they cut the field after day 2 and on Sat, I belive there will only be 5 boats left I'm going fishing
Members gdh Posted March 3, 2010 Members Posted March 3, 2010 redbud spectacular rant lower your blood preasure ,enjoy what you can, deal with what you cant change and go fishing . Im going fishing ,may have a flashing light on a pole not to get run over, jet bugs, rafts, big boats or small, life is short lots of fish to chase . look at this way all those boats running around may warm the water alittle besides ,if you had a mess of crappie in the live well and one was a white crappie with the rest being black would you dump them all in the lakebecause one was different.
skeeter Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 Never have been a competitive person, or anyone that wanted loosing 1 fish in 4 days to ruin my life. If you are fishing with me, I would always rather see you catch the biggest and most fish, weather I'm guiding or just fishing for fun. You know, some of my best days on the water, I don't even catch one fish. Pretty happy enjoying the Ozarks and helping folks catch fish, and seeing smiles. Why ruin it. Well said !
Guest csfishinfool Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 This is unreal... there here for one...one!! week of the year. All the pros ever say about Table Rock and our state is how nice the people are. I say give it a break. I like how a guide can post about how he makes a living fishing and how he wants you to respect his water. Then in another sentence is curising a guy for being competitive in a tournament. Also did the guy have a reason for asking you to move your vehicle? Is your truck a giant bill board that needs to be seen from the water? Nah that couldn't have been the reason for that.
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted March 3, 2010 Root Admin Posted March 3, 2010 Alot of businesses are hurting right now in the area. This is a huge boost and probably just in time after a tough winter season. Lodging, eateries, even Bass Pro on the Landing will benefit. The FLW is a group of diverse people just like any other group. You could be talking about a big church, a company, a squadron of fire fighters, employees at a Wal Mart super center. Most of the people in these groups are decent people and even some of those make mistakes. A small percentage act poorly and that reflects on the group. The only thing in this equation that you can control is... you-- how you react, how you judge, how you live your life. Give mercy and it will be returned. Think the best of all people and be wise in your dealings.

motoman Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 Unreal, there is a disqualification penalty for breaking any laws while in a tournament, someone just has to report it to the director. But that guy should loose his right to drive a boat at all. - Someone mentioned it in another thread. But, in this day and age where most people have cell phones; most with cameras (video/still), i like the idea of video taping the pros poor behavior and report it. If not to the tournament director, e-mail it to their sponsors. Seems like a great way to curb their behavior?
