eric1978 Posted May 24, 2010 Posted May 24, 2010 Obama caused the oil spill! LOL! The funniest part is you probably actually think that. I have to concede, however, he's done a terrible job of tending to the problem.

jdmidwest Posted May 24, 2010 Posted May 24, 2010 A sportsman should never complain about another LEGAL sporting method like gigging, a long standing tradition here in the Ozarks. Just because you don't understand it or do it, its legal and some enjoy it. Just because you think they may take an bass or two you want to outlaw it. I would guarantee there are many more tickets written for undersize and over the limit bass fishing than there are gigging violations. If we were to use the same analogy and a gigger got on his high horse about people attacking undersize bass based on a few poachers he saw on the stream, he would want to abolish bass fishing. Enforcement of existing laws is what we need, call the 1-800-392-1111 and report the poacher instead of complaining about a legal fishing method that does not affect the fish population. Complaints are fuel for the fires of Anti Sportsman groups like PETA and others. "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S. Thompson
eric1978 Posted May 24, 2010 Posted May 24, 2010 a legal fishing method that does not affect the fish population. I'm sure you have a link to some kind of evidence that supports that claim. I look forward to reading it.
ozark trout fisher Posted May 24, 2010 Posted May 24, 2010 You guys think I derailed this thread. I find that pretty funny, since it went from a fishing report, to an argument about fishing for spawning bass, to an argument about gigging. Do you guys ever get tired of posting the same thing over and over again?
jdmidwest Posted May 24, 2010 Posted May 24, 2010 I'm sure you have a link to some kind of evidence that supports that claim. I look forward to reading it. Its a legal sporting season, set by the MDC, monitored by the MDC, and enforced by the MDC. The rules and regulations are on the MDC website, in the fishing handbook, and the MDC handbook of rules and regulations. Surely you can figure that out or do you just like dumb questions???? I'm not talking about the legalities. I'm talking about your absolute claim that it does not have any effect on fish populations, and I'm asking you to provide us with any evidence that supports that claim. I don't pretend to know definitively either way, although I have my opinions. But you seem to have some info the rest of us don't, so please enlighten us...or do you just like to say dumb things? I know you're in the habit of making unsubstantiated assertions - that's pretty obvious by now - but how about a couple provable facts from you for a change?
ness Posted May 24, 2010 Posted May 24, 2010 A seemingly innocuous thread titled "More Smallie Action in River" goes to five pages.... Last post eric1978.... I smells a fight.... Maybe it's something good.... Nope, it's a rerun. I guess I'll go see what else is on. John
Smalliebigs Posted May 24, 2010 Posted May 24, 2010 You have to admit, bragging about catching Smallies off a bed on this site is pretty stupid. Then posting pics, well thats also stupid.I am glad you were finally called out for this.I have sat by watching for awhile on this site and have never said a thing, but I have to admit it pisses me off when you are yanking smallies off beds.Nick and Al proclaim themselves the "guru", give me a break!!!! I have thousands of digital images of Smallies and hundreds are trophies and I never feel the need to post these. The older I have become the more humble I have become.I realize that sometimes I would rather observe than catch Smallies.I get bigger kick out of my nephews catching a Smallie than me.This comes after years of catching trophies, but I do know the Smallie population is going down, I don't care what Al or Nick the self proclaimed gurus say. There are spotted bass all the way up to our farm on the Meramec that is above HWY 8, and they are increasing in numbers every year.To me it's real simple...CATCH AND RELEASE ALL SMALLMOUTH. Don't tell PETA but I have been throwing Largies and Spots up on the bank since 1998 and that is a lot bass for the racoons.Around the bend, I couldn't agree with your statements more.To all the gurus out there plenty of tropy Smallmouth are beeing caught some people just don't feel the need to brag about it, some people don't need to catch them off beds.I was going to attach some pic but my camera is to high of megapixel.
