At around the 1:50 mark the graphics come up and say that Greg was unconscious in the water for 10 minutes?

What the heck were the guys in the camera boat doing for 10 minutes?

I thought the same thing.

Told me they could get 80+ out of my 521VX with a 250 Hammer on the back. No thank you. I'd rather be able to run wakes and waves at 50-60mph and not feel like the boat is coming apart under me. That's why I bought it. Think the brown fish like that I go slow, makes me look less serious, less threatening. Had it 5 years and only turned hour 76 last week.

I left when they started unbolting the TM to try and get a few more mph. Impressive show, thought maybe the wind would flip it on over a time or two. It had that crazy fast hull sound to it.

Were you hoping they flipped it over or what as that is the way you sound. They are personal friends of mine and that boat is one of the most stable riding and fishing boats built. It is a Stroker Bass Boat built one at a time in Maryville, Tn. by Chub Bryant who is about 6'7" and weighs about 330lbs and he wanted a tournament boat that would take a big man like him fishing fast. The boat ran 96 with a 32TXP which is not a good prop for that boat. The guy that owns it was driving and fishes tourney's in Mn. where the boat is at now. Him as well as the guys from HydroTec Performance Marine were down that night testing the rig before he went back home. They are a good group of people and if you have a Yamaha there is no better place then HydroTec to get it repaired.

Gary is right about the boat. After that Horriffic display, the boat maintained a very upright position, and didn't come close to flipping. I was the water craft operations safety operating instructor for the Water Patrol, for 2 yrs. I have driven a many at unsafe speeds, and that boat while not as stable on top as I would like, sure did the job of staying up right. At that point after commiting to the crossing of the wakes, letting off the throttle would not have made one "Iota" of a difference. It is all about angles and trim.

Would disagree about the stability of the run on top however. You can see, even on calm water the boat at full trim has quite abit of walk in it, moving from side to side pretty bad. If you will watch close, you will see the driver, is really doing a good job of having to drive this boat, at full trim. He just ain't a sittin there, he is working the wheel pretty hard trying to keep the roll and drift out.

I thought he did a pretty good job, but let the camera, cloud his judgement. Hit the wave at a 45, causing the port bow to dig in and send it up. If he would have hit the wave at less angle and took a mite off the full trim, that boat would have eaten up those wakes, at that speed, easy.

I would say that boat driven at less than extreme racing speed say 76 instead of 96 would be a fine boat. Probably no walk or anything. Would really like to see one of those boats up close.

Thank God he is OK.

The boat will handle some awful nasty stuff. Keith hasn't been driving one that long but he does a good job. Only thing stopping me from owning one is the wife won't let me buy another boat. She's cute though!

That gentleman is lucky to be alive without head or spinal injuries. He should be thanking his Maker.

Watching his hands on the steering wheel in the one earlier pass trying to drive the boat out of the "chine walk" it was in is enough to convince me he did sorta know what he was doing but trying to cross that wake from astern at full trim up was just insane. Trimming down and slowing long before crossing the wake would have prevented a nasty accident.

As regards Hydrotec, they are the best !!!!

Not my meaning at all Gary, and if anyone else took it that way please know that. I don't watch NASCAR for wrecks either as I've had a wreck myself and understand there is not one thing entertaining about them. As a long time slow boat owner I was, as I wrote, honestly impressed by the show that was going on. Had just popped up to Aunts after dinner to look at some different lake than out the back of the cabin and ended up watching a boat blow down that creek about twice as fast as I usually do. It was a super fast rig, and fun to watch. It captivated me for about 15 minutes until I finally went down to talk to two complete strangers and compliment them on their boat, in my Ranger gear no less. Not surprised to hear it is made in TN, believe that is also the home of Bullet, Blazer, Bumble Bee? Allison at one time? For a fast boat it looked pretty well laid out for fishing, which is what they are all for in the end.

But it sure did look like it could go over. We had quite a bit of wind that day and evening, and running into the wind it looked like some serious driving was required. There were a couple of runs where I was concerned for boat and boater, but maybe I am nervous in the service on that sort of thing.

If impressive or impressed are descriptions no one likes I can't help it. Am even more such knowing it ran 96 in that wind and handled as well as it did. Hopefully everyone is unruffled, but I still wouldn't get in anything like that. Used to get in an old 340V Ranger with a hot 150 Merc that seemed about twice as big as the boat...it reminded me a little of the look and sound that ride had. That boat did nearly go over once, but a good driver saved the day.

Good news for Techo is I didn't see them fishing in Aunts :goodmood: .

What Techno does know is that the Sonar System they were using to map Aunt's Creek can only be used at high speed so they have every rock tree and creek bed scanned now for the next fishing outing.

They are good guys and ready and willing to talk to anyone. HydroTec also works on Rangers as well as Mercury outboards but with Mercury they don't do warranty work like they do with Yamaha. He made the higher speed run up lake out away from the ramp on better water and less wind. I would have been there also but had other things going on. If you need work on your Yamaha or Mercury Wayne and the boys at HydroTec can help you out and Wayne is as honest as they come and stands behind his work. No I am just a friend and met him much the way you did and I receive nothing for pushing business toward his doors.

Techno for a few dollars I may be able to get you a copy of the scan!

Bill, your meaning is to hit the wake more or less bow on? Have been trying to visualize and keep coming up with different images, maybe I need to get out my toy boats. Thinking less bow on, let more of the wake hit more of the length?

Watched it several times, couldn't make out the brand of boat. Bullet?
