It's actually pretty comical, and it's good for some laughs and shakes of the head. I'm always entertained by the amount of misinformation people have been spoon-fed, and happily regurgitate without even thinking. The only thing there is to be nervous about is the fact that their vote counts the same as yours.

This thread is a trainwreck.

Eric... those of us who post too much make every thread a trainwreck. Let's go fishing man!

This thread is a microcosm of Washington D.C. A question is posed, opinions are aired, listening and consensus halted, camps divided on party lines with an US vs. THEM or WRONG vs RIGHT attitude, then comes name calling with barely contained hostility toward others with opposing views. Nothing gained but bad feelings. Gridlock. Seven pages of it. Good thing we're not talking about Social Security, taxes, military spending, etc. etal.

I'm thinking of just lying and saying the name of the first stream that comes to mind from now on.

Or maybe I'll actually be telling the truth, but you only THINK I'm lying.

Or maybe I AM lying, but you think I want you to think I'm lying so you think I'm telling the truth.

I caught 'em all on the West Fork of the South Prong of Crooked Beaver Creek River.

Or was it the Roubidoux in the middle of Fort Leonard Wood...I had to dodge gunnery practice and wear next generation camo and fit a silencer for my Sammy.

Actually it was Crane Creek...those big smallmouth got that way by eating McCloud rainbows.

Nope, it was Starlight Creek (for the Harry Middleton fans here).

It was really a secret spring hole on the Mississippi.

Or River Des Peres.

:goodjob:

Good post Al.

Darn good post.

There's a fine line between fishing and sitting there looking stupid.

Crooked creek is one of the best streams for smallmouth in the US but it doesn't get near the pressure other places do.

Now I dont intend to tell people which riffle I caught my biggest fish, but I dont care letting someone float. As far as secret lures, I have caught really nice smallmouth on the exact same crankbait on the white river, eleven point river, and crooked creek. It isn't rocket science.

BTW, if you ever get a wild hair to wade fish crooked creek stay away from the 101 bridge, the fishing is NOT worth the walk.

I'm not sure there's a deep hole in Crooked Creek that doesn't have a big smallie in it. What an amazing creek.

I think most of the "secret" creeks are going to stay good even if I tell someone about them. The reason they are good is generally because they are usually remote, hard to get to, hard to float down, have limited access, go nearly dry in the summer, etc. For these reasons, 99.9% of the people I would tell are not going to go there. The .1% that will won't be poachers. Take Myatt creek for example. It has some extroidinarily big fish in it for it's small size. Now all you need to do is figure out where it is, where to put in and take out, when is there going to be enough water, etc. Too hard for most folks. Just the way I like it. You've heard of natural selection. Let's call it natural protection...

Google Earth just took care of one and two, and common sense generally gives me number three. You just tipped me off to a creek I've never heard of. Thanks! Next time I'm down that way I'll definitely spend some time there and hopefully bring home a nice cooler full of smallie fillets. Dramatization

It is that easy, though, and given the relatively small size of that creek, it wouldn't take much to clean it out. Beware, my friend...seriously, beware.
