flytyer57 Posted October 19, 2010 Posted October 19, 2010 Sounds like you had a run in with a beaver flytyer. Way too darn big for a beaver. I believe the posibility of a bear. More to the size. There's a fine line between fishing and sitting there looking stupid.
jdmidwest Posted October 20, 2010 Posted October 20, 2010 They like to smack they're tail on the water when they get spooked. I have had them do that within a few feet of my canoe at night before. I swear I didn't have to change my shorts. I had a deer hound wander into my campsite while I was camping on the eleven point the night before rifle season last year. That spooked me a little bit, but not nearly as much as the shots that were going off at 2 am. Hey, just probably some hunters that wanted to sleep late in the morning and already have the deer "tied" up. In that neck of the woods, they are better shots in the dark than they are in the daylight, more practice at night... steveearle Posted October 20, 2010 Posted October 20, 2010 Didnt seem that spooky at the time..In retrospect..?? We were bank fishing down at the Buffalo National River during the middle of the day when I was in 7th grade or so (circa 1987), when my dad and I heard kind of a wierd noise. We turned around and a guy had a young mountain lion on a leash..Chatted and we left...Wish I could see that now...did not appreciate it back then.
troutfiend1985 Posted October 20, 2010 Author Posted October 20, 2010 Yeah, the idea of an alligator or a mountain lion on a leash is creepy. Reminds me of that guy in New York who was keeping either a tiger or a lion in his apartment as a pet. One day the guy ran out of food, and well the tiger made cat chow of him. “The greatest menace to freedom is an inert people” J. Brandeis
fishinwrench Posted October 20, 2010 Posted October 20, 2010 Wrench has a creepy photo of a footprint.. Wonder if he'll post it up? I lost that pic when my computer crashed. It was a bear track...I think. Didn't I post that pic on here ? It was the Summer of 09 I'll admit to being a little "on edge" every time I fish that stretch now. There's a heron rookery just around the bend from where I saw those prints and those herons go nuts for no apparent reason sometimes, that always freaks me out because it is such a boggy creepy area anyway. jdmidwest Posted October 20, 2010 Posted October 20, 2010 I saw this on the Spring River in Ark a few years ago, still don't know what it was..... "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S. Thompson

flytyer57 Posted October 20, 2010 Posted October 20, 2010 I think its my ex's mother in law That would make it your mother. Unless of course your ex got remarried, then it would be her new hubbies mother. There's a fine line between fishing and sitting there looking stupid.
