flytyer57 Posted October 26, 2010 Posted October 26, 2010 BY isn't that explained by opposing forces of wind on extremely blustery days? How do you get that in a body of water with no appreciable current? Any possibility you could find a video of one? I tried and couldn't seem to locate one... (or find a definition on Wiki, for that matter) Please note: this most certainly doesn't mean I don't believe you, I'm just from the show-me state... Yes, they are caused by a vortex in wind currents. Dirt devils are over dry land, water withces are over water. Google "dust devil." There's a fine line between fishing and sitting there looking stupid.
snagged in outlet 3 Posted October 26, 2010 Posted October 26, 2010 I think they are called water spouts also. SIO3
troutfiend1985 Posted October 26, 2010 Author Posted October 26, 2010 I was night fishing the upper shoal at McClellans about 10 years back and had to use the water closet. They had one near the trail to the upper shoal and I was sitting there in the dark with the door open dropping a deuce. I heard foot steps coming quickly toward me and it freaked me out so bad I started yelling at what ever it was, in hopes of making it stop. Not a chance. It kept coming and I was kind of crawling up the back of the toilet with pants down trying to get away. Well I had a little mess going back there when it finally came into view. It was two armadillos running side by side right towards me. They split up and went around each side of the johnny and kept going. You would think it would scare the crap out me but I never did finish my business in there. SIO3 I think this tops all of mine, if nothing else for the reason that I got a vivid picture of the mess created. I also think using a john for the good ol' #2 is a crepy fishing story “The greatest menace to freedom is an inert people” J. Brandeis
troutfiend1985 Posted October 26, 2010 Author Posted October 26, 2010 Check out this video of a guy driving his boat into a water spout, and then the links to how big this water spout was. Talk about boater safety. “The greatest menace to freedom is an inert people” J. Brandeis
