Jason Essary Posted January 22, 2011 Posted January 22, 2011 Ok guys, If you could only have one megabass stick for most all conditions, which color would it be and why? Give me some posts here to see which I should lean towards. All for Table Rock. Ham Posted January 22, 2011 Posted January 22, 2011 Can't do it man. I change colors OFTEN. I like ones with a lot of flash when it is sunny. I've got some loud colors for cloudy. I like the natural subtle stuff too. Ito Wagasaki maybe? Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish
denjac Posted January 22, 2011 Posted January 22, 2011 Ditto the Ito Wagasaki Dennis Boothe Joplin Mo. For a nation to tax itself into prosperity is like a man standing in a bucket and trying to lift himself up by the handle." ~ Winston Churchill ~
Members KC Trout Fan Posted January 22, 2011 Members Posted January 22, 2011 I have always heard Pro Blue. I got a few this winter havent got a chance to use them yet though.. Psalm 16:8 I know the Lord is always with me. I will not be shaken, for he is right beside me.
Cajunangler Posted January 22, 2011 Posted January 22, 2011 First of all, Ham is just full of crap. And I can easily say that since the two of us fish together a lot. I can honestly say that I just bought my first, a TNG color, and while it has caught several fish its durability seems to be lacking. After only a few fish I noticed the bait sinking like a rock when I stopped my retrieve and upon closer inspection I found a nice crack around the enire tail section and the bait was full of water. I hate to be cheap but I like any hard bait I purchase to provide a good amount of fishing time without a breakdown in its structure. I am sure others will have comments regarding their durability but if any of you have had similar expereinces I'd like to know. I was going to purchase several more this year but I've put that idea on hold pending more research. And I do catch fish pretty well on McSticks, rapalas and other brands of jerk baits that cost far less. I have attempted to repair the crack using plastic epoxy. I'll find out soon enough if the repair holds and whether or not I've killed the bait's action.
RSBreth Posted January 22, 2011 Posted January 22, 2011 Yeah, the only one I have used broke like this, too. So I guess I'd say the if I had only one color to choose from it would be any color XCailbur XS4.
abkeenan Posted January 22, 2011 Posted January 22, 2011 Im with cajun on this one. McSticks are frickin awesome for half or less the price of the megabass visions and I cant imagine the megabass doing any better than the spro IMO. The McSticks have nice colors to choose from and are coming out with more each new year. Cloudy days I use the blue bandit or norman flake (caught my biggest TR bass on it) and sunny days I throw the chrome shad (caught the most fish in one day on TR on it). You wont feel as bad losing a 12$ bait as a 25+$, but i have an old blue david fritts lure retreiver connected to a 20ft retractable dog leash that has gotten back every single mcstick that I have hung in a cedar that I didnt see under water. Yet to lose one, knock on wood. Spro also has AWESOME customer service. My brother had a leaky mcstick that was a factory defect right out of the box and he sent it back (cost about 1 buck to ship back) and in about 2-3 weeks got 2 brand new replacements in return. I broke the bill off one of my chrome shad mcsticks after catching about 20 fish on it and threw it over an tree limb and tried to pop it off and the bill cracked off when I did that. It was 100% my fault and I sent it back to spro anyways just to see what they would do. After about 2 months I didnt get anything or hear anything back from Spro then out of the blue I got a package from them with 2 brand new chrome shads and 1 blue bandit. Yes, 3 new baits for my 1 broken. Spro has been great and I will continue to buy their products and vouch for them.
Champ188 Posted January 22, 2011 Posted January 22, 2011 Jason, to get back to your question, I've had my best success with Megabass jerk baits in the GP Stain Reaction and GP Pro Blue colors. The guys do make a good point about the McSticks ... I'm very fond of the Blue Bandit and the new Ghost Table Rock Shad.
Quillback Posted January 22, 2011 Posted January 22, 2011 I like McSticks and if I want a bait that works a little deeper, I pull out an IMA Flit. The Flit in Chartreuse shad worked real well for me on one of the clear lakes here in Bella Vist last week. I would think it would work on TR.
