Crappie5 Posted January 26, 2011 Posted January 26, 2011 Dont know about everyone else, but the current price of fuel is going to cut my trips down a bit this year.

We are building a canoe trailer that I can pull behind our TDI beetle that gets 25mpg towing. I am incredibly lucky that I have a dozen streams within an hour and a half driving that I can float. everything in this post is purely opinion and is said to annoy you.
Cajunangler Posted January 26, 2011 Posted January 26, 2011 Techo, there is nothing worse than having to plan a vacation well in advance and find out your lake of silitude will be over run with other professional fishermen BUT don't forget that slightly larger pond just to the east, Bull Shoals. Just saying that toward the end of the week leaving the crowds and heading east might provide for a more enjoyable outing. Either way a week of fishing any lake is no camparison to a week of working. Late April up here should have plenty of green fish hitting lots of different lures.

Babler took me out last april and he didn't know I was marking the spots he took me to. Might be some good stickbait action over there. Hope my jigs work too though. Tim Carpenter
rps Posted January 26, 2011 Posted January 26, 2011 Put in up here. Very few run past Shell Knob and the Kings. Even if they do, they arrive later and leave earlier.
Gary Lange Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 I will have to remember to get up early and beat them on the water. I will stay away on the weekends so it shouldn't be to bad. Respect your Environment and others right to use it!
Champ188 Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 Techo, there is nothing worse than having to plan a vacation well in advance and find out your lake of silitude will be over run with other professional fishermen. There are lots of things worse. Besides, expecting solitude in the month of April on one of the country's best-known bass fisheries is a bit presumptuous. This old row about visiting tournament fishermen vs. crabby locals surfaces every spring on the forum. Looks like it's off to an early start this year.
dtrs5kprs Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 All in all, I'd much rather fish in the middle of a major organization tmt (FLW, BASS, Central...) than some of the charity and company deals. From my experiences the folks who pony up $300-$500 to enter have generally been pretty good to me on the lake. Think they understand there is too much at stake (besides catching fish) to ruin it with poor behavior.

Actually, a sharp hook in the eye would beat a dull rusty hook in the eye. Bulkl Shoals is a great idea. Would like to show my friend my beloved Table Rock some though. Sorry for starting one of the spring topics a bit early there Champ. Should we tackle catch and release and get it out of the way too? Just kidding. Tim Carpenter
