Guest csfishinfool Posted January 28, 2011 Posted January 28, 2011 There are lots of things worse. Besides, expecting solitude in the month of April on one of the country's best-known bass fisheries is a bit presumptuous. This old row about visiting tournament fishermen vs. crabby locals surfaces every spring on the forum. Looks like it's off to an early start this year. Ha +1. I hope I'm fishing this event in April also. We will have to see how the first two BFL's go for me. Last year I cashed money in all but one tournament, including the regional. If I start where I left off I should be able to have the BFL pay for the BASS. That would be sweet. But I just noticed today that the Co-Anglers in the opens only keep three fish. Should be able to cull all day long. 3 fish that go twelve pounds !!!
rps Posted January 28, 2011 Posted January 28, 2011 csfishinfool, I hope your plan comes together for you. For me, if I were ever to say that sort of thing out loud, I would have the kind of year where I would be lucky to avoid the hospital, much less the kind of year I would cash a check.

Ha I'm super confident in my ability. I figure if you don't set your goals high you will never acomplish any of them. Plus in late April you are guarenteed to be around thousands of 3-5 pound fish. It was a crazy good season last year, can't wait for this one to start up.
Champ188 Posted January 28, 2011 Posted January 28, 2011 I'm with you, rps. Don't want one of my size 13's in my mouth.
gabe Posted January 29, 2011 Posted January 29, 2011 Techo: You have the right gameplan. Time on the water is great for the soul and recharges the battery. Time flies and there are only so many spring stickbait bites on Table Rock.

Champ, I just moved to the area a few years ago, but the topic of bed fishing is interesting. Is it legal for organized tournamnent fishermen to fish the beds? If so, aren't you potentially killing off the species? I am not a fisherman, but this has been my suspicion?

Jimmy, That's a subject that's been batted around the park till the cowhide is thin. To answer your question, yes it's legal for tournament anglers to fish beds. Is this detrimental to the bass population? Well, it certainly can't help. But as long as tournaments are held during the spawn, pursuit of the almighty dollar will prevail every time. Yes, I'm a tournament fisherman. I don't purposely sight fish in competition during the spawn, primarily because I don't think it's a wise use of my time. But if I come across a large bass on a bed, I will attempt to catch her. I'd be robbing myself if I didn't.
