Stump bumper Posted February 3, 2011 Posted February 3, 2011 On the bed fishing I usually find the little males that arn't legal fish guarding eggs, the big female is there for less than a day, and that day might be a tounament day probally not. I know a lot of Northern States have regs against lifting a fish from the bed, but the "protection" the male provides vs the amount of the hatch he will eat himself after the hatch is also a big question. As for mayself I have never found five beds in a day with 2 fish each on the bed and if I ever did I would probally catch all five little males and have to put them right back anyway. The best part of fishing an area with beds for me is when they are feeding on thier own fry and you can get them on shallow runing cranks, then arn't you helping the little guys out by taking the big fish for a boat ride?
