I really don't know why this stuff even gets brought up here.

On one side, you have those that believe in the fact that our planet is getting warmer and we should at least try to do something about it.

On the other side, you have those that will never believe it because they think it's just a gimmick by the left wing tree huggers trying to infringe upon their livelyhoods.

Nobody here can post all the facts that are out there and nobody will ever change anybody's way of thinking on this subject. It's a waste of time and energy to even try to convince those that do not believe it. Only when the likes of Faux News, Beck and Limbaugh etc. change their attitudes on this matter will we see some clear path to middle ground.

You left out the ones that actually look at the thing from science and historical data. There are always more than two sides.

I did not.

There's a fine line between fishing and sitting there looking stupid.

True dat.

It really doesn't matter if there is global warming or not. We all know that pollution is bad. We all should hope we can reduce pollution through greener energy sources. This may or may not help global warming but will help air quality, acid rain problems etc. If we do the common sense things that should be better for the earth we all win (especially our kids and grandkids). That's all folks!

I wonder how they measured global warming before the farenheit thermometor?

Posted

I assume they didn't and in fact probably were thinking in terms of how much colder the earth, actually Europe, was going to get. Gabriel Fahrenheit invented the first accurate thermometer in 1714 and that was during a period of unusual cold.

Here's one tidbit of food for thought, sans liberal or conservative propaganda as an automatic dismissal. While it does come from a political source, the more important point is the credentials of the scientist involved.

Temperatures can be gleaned from the fossil records of the plant fauna of the period. While they are not accurate to any tenth of a degree that some claim we are warming now each decade, they can depict the general consensus of the period.

So it is your side based on the last 10 years or my side for the last several billion years?

Set for release this week, a newly updated U.S. Senate Minority Report features the dissenting voices of over 650 international scientists

We know who the Senate minority works for. 'Nuff said.

A lot of the third-party stuff is pretty interesting Wayne, and it's certainly possible the current period of climate change has nothing to do with our use of fossil fuels.

But I guess that'd be an easier pill for me to swallow from a different messenger. I googled Marc Morano, and it seems as though he's worked for a lot of folks who get a lot of money from the oil and gas industry- I can see why he would have a vested interest in debunking global warming science. When the source is that biased to begin with, it makes me awfully suspicious...
