BFTMASTER Posted February 4, 2011 Posted February 4, 2011 Any of you guys know where to find some quality jigs for the White? Sculpin colored, painted heads, varying weights. We had a good time with a guide this year, bouncing jigs off the bottom. Probably caught and released over 100 fish each. Don't have time to tie my own, but would like to build a jig box for the White. Thanks-
Gavin Posted February 4, 2011 Posted February 4, 2011 Lilley's tackle shop should have what you need. http://lilleystacklestore.com/xcart/home.php?cat=269

Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted February 4, 2011 Root Admin Posted February 4, 2011 When choosing a jig, I think you have to look at the colors offered, shape of the head, type of metal used (lead or alloy) and how they're tied. The shape of the head affects the drop of the jig. Some jig heads are made oblong and will fall at an angle. The flat heads, the jig will fall all different ways. Some jigs are tied with collars, some are not. The collars gives the jig body more... body. Type of metal isn't as important unless you just don't want to use lead. My #1 go-to color is sculpin. I use it for trout and bass, either one. I also like combo colors, mixing sculpin or dark earth colors with light colors for contrast. Plus- one other thing to consider is how well the jig is made. If you use a particular jig and it falls apart after catch a couple of fish on a regular basis, I wouldn't go back to it.
Ham Posted February 4, 2011 Posted February 4, 2011 I think the hook used in the jighead is pretty important as well. The ZIg Jig has a really nice fine wire hook that is tacky sharp and has a nice temper. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish
