TD, thanks for returning Coldwater's vest. I guess you were in that bunch that floated into Akers around dark on Saturday? How did you do?

Fishing wasnt on fire for us, but we caught enough for a fish fry on both Friday & Saturday night..#14 rubber leg red fox squirrel nymph was the ticket...9 on that on the RFSN & 3 on a black & brown Pat's rubberlegs on Saturday. Good weekend to be out.

Gavin

Yes, that was my group. I was the straggler at the end in the yellow kayak and the only fly fisher in the group. Curiously enough I had a great day after switching flies about a dozen times. The only thing I had any success with was orange or multi colored yarn glow balls. Lost an absolute pig at Medlock in the big pool. That makes two lost pigs in 3 weeks. The other on the Niangua, the same weekend those poor people drown. Very tragic!!! Clearly, I need some lessons in bringing those pigs to hand. Maybe next time.

Glad you had a good time. By the look of the smiles in the pic it was a great weekend had by all.

Troutdude if your a St. Louis local PM me I'll by ya a beer someplace. Like young ladies dressed in mini kilts?

You are exemplifying what is great about OAF.

Thanks JJ. Unfortunately, I am a KC guy. However, the temptation of young ladies in mini kilts could merit a trip to St. Louis.

Sounds you had a great time too, thanks for the report. The RFSN had an orange thread collar behind the bead...Maybe they were keyed on it? I'm not sure, because I got into a couple right away and I ended up fishing the same two flies for the rest of the trip. Guess its better to be lucky than good. Cheers.

Dallas -- you're a pretty freakin' lucky dude!

I know it. Incredibly lucky. Its good to know theres a lot of good, honest folks out there and that they are still in the majority. I think part of it is karma, too.

Maybe a year and a half ago, a bunch of us were camped out at Ashley Creek gravel bar on the upper Current. We had floated in from Baptist and really took our time fishing the area pretty good. So along about 5 or 6 pm we decided it was cocktail hour and dinner prep time, and we were just sitting there relaxing when a woman and her teenage daughter floated by in kayaks. We waved at them, but thought it was strange to be getting such a late start. Didn't think much of it. Then a couple more hours passed and it got to be dusk and we heard some hollering coming from downstream. It was the woman and the daughter. They had paddled back upstream towards us at Ashley and wanted to know where Parker Hollow access was . . . they were concerned that they had passed it. Well, we told them they had a good 3 miles to go back downstream and with them being cold, wet, and exhausted from their upstream paddling, not to mention not having any flashlights, we didn't think it was such a wise idea for them to be paddling such a distance with it getting darker by the minute. Her husband was expecting them there quite some time ago. So my brother and I left our buddies at camp to enjoy the beer and dutch oven pizza we were preparing to get into. We told the mother and daughter to leave their kayaks, that we would tow them out the next day and we then hiked with them upstream on the fishermans trail with our headlamps and got to our van. Only took about a half hour. My brother then drove them down to Parker while I waited at Baptist in case someone came looking for them there -- I could tell them where they had gone. My brother said that when he got to Parker it was an emotional reunion - the husband/father was quite worried and several folks from the park service were there getting ready to launch a jet-boat search party to come look for them. So my brother drove back to Baptist and we hiked back to camp in the dark and the whole thing cost us a couple hours of time, but we were glad to do it. I think most people would've done the same thing. The next day we found a box of hand-tied flies along with a nice thank-you note on the van given to us by the Dad.

Good things come around back on you sometimes.

Thanks again, Troutdude!

There about sentence three or four, I wasn't quite sure which direction this story was heading... I was concerned if the story was going to fit in to the pg rating of this forum about sentence 9 and even more so with the closing word of sentence 12, followed by the entirety of sentence 13. Glad my concerns were for naught, and good on you guys for doing right. :)

But there has to be some back story on the vest too, right?

I have spent most of my money on fly fishing and beer. The rest I just wasted.
