Whack'emGood Posted March 13, 2011 Posted March 13, 2011 Fishing Table Rock at night? I cant even see my hand 1 foot in front of my face... Table Rock as got to be the darkest area on the planet at night. The stars look like diamonds. Absolutely beautiful.. i bet the fishing IS awesome.. I think I will give it a try next time im there.. Put them new headlights on the golfcart to use !!! There's nothing like it. It's not as dark as you think out there, most nights anyway. There is quite a bit of light from all of the development around the lake. Now there's Stockton Lake... that lake can get really dark at night without a moon. Anyway, I love night fishing. Like I said, there's nothing like it. Best big fish area? I would say underwater. If I can't catch them on the conventional tackle that I already use, then I guess I just can't catch them." -LK (WHACK'EM)
Sam Posted March 14, 2011 Posted March 14, 2011 I'm kinda 1980's in my night fishing. I've got a black light on the left side-rail of my boat, and I use Stren Flourescent line with it. When it's good and dark, that line looks as big around as a lead pencil. There's no problem getting around the lake at night. My new fishfinder has GPS with it, but I don't pay it much attention. I've always just followed the reflections on the water and watched the hills against the night sky.
Hammer time Posted March 14, 2011 Posted March 14, 2011 Night fishing for sure, all of my largest bass have come at night. I believe that those big ones only feed at night and stay deep all day because of all the boat traffic. 10.2 my biggest James river new moon on a jig bluff end.
edyer Posted March 14, 2011 Posted March 14, 2011 If I where you and I was after a big fish,I would fish after dark. The next full moon is April 3rd and the water temp ought to be high enough for the big fish to feed at night.I would throw a big jig or a black single blade spinnebait.I think I'm gonna try my hand at some night fishing this moon. The best nights ought to be the 3 nights before till the 3 nights after the full moon. Then around new moon can be awesome also. As far as where.I believe anywhere on the lake in the clear water has the potential for big fish. I agree with Foz as far as there are so many fish that spend most of their lives in deep water on these Ozark lakes and only come shallow to spawn.I also believe these fish spawn deeper and cannot be seen. Jamie Night time is the right time. My biggest bass ever, an 8 pound two ouncer was caught about an hour after dark on a jig, right across the public launch on (sorry Techo) Aunts Creek. Last year I caught a 7 pound, three ounce LM at night on a Hart single spin spinner bait. I will be back on the Rock for that April full moon bite. Went ice fishing today up here in Michigan. I did catch a two pound largemouth in 38 fow on a 4 mm ice jig and two pound test line. Anybody try that finesse tactic on Table Rock yet?

I guesses they closed that little pocket to fishing though with the penalty being death if you happen to be caught in there. Fish at your own risk. I don't want to steal the original poster's thread but there seems to be a finesse movement on the rock lately. Some folks thought I was a finesse fisherman with the 5/16 eakins jigs but people are going way smaller with the jigs and the float n fly techniques. I am going to copy you on the night fishing this year Whacked! Hope to see you out there this time! Tim Carpenter
Sore Thumbs Posted March 14, 2011 Posted March 14, 2011 If you had to pick one area to swing for the fence, where would you go during late March? You must be fishing in the KVD tournament.
MstStudent10 Posted March 14, 2011 Posted March 14, 2011 Yeah I was gonna say, I think the real meaning of this post is... "If I only needed to catch 1 huge bass the weekend of March 26th and 27th in order to win a $45,000 Nitro, where should I go and what should I throw???" Haha. That takes the night fishing out of the equation. Honestly there's basically no way to pattern 7+ pounders around here. Go out and pre fish and pattern some solid 3-4 pounders, chances are there is at least 1 BIG bass in the "vicinity" of other "solid" bass. But when it comes down to it, you can have your lure right in front of that big girls face, and if she doesn't wanna bite it, she isn't going to. ...That being said, this is the kind of thing where the "nice expensive graphs" can really pay off. Hidden offshore structure = Big bass payoff. If there's anything Lake Fork has taught me, it has taught me that. The problem is, without a REALLY good graph, you may never find one of those spots, unless you stumble upon it. I can't remember which tourney it was last year that KVD won, but I remember hearing him say that he just stumbled upon his "winning spot" on the first day by seeing on his SIDE IMAGING a deep underwater Ditch or Ledge or something. Threw deep divers around it and started cranking out 4 pounders. If you wanna win this thing, put in some time to prefish and just go around looking for some deeper "sweet spots", or if you don't have the time to do that, just slowly swim a grub around and hope to luck on to a 7-8 pounder. Good Luck everyone! Set the hook first, ask questions later...
magicwormman Posted March 14, 2011 Posted March 14, 2011 I agree night time is the right time. I can remember back to April of 1985(when we really had some hogs) at midnight, I landed a 9 lber in dogleg cove (near pt. 5). A few minutes later, my partner had a larger bass to the boat and broke it off. We were both throwing a black jig & pig. We also caught some big fish from Spring Branch at night.
Sprint21fter Posted March 14, 2011 Posted March 14, 2011 If you had to pick one area to swing for the fence, where would you go during late March? I am focusing on areas at the mouth of Long Creek and Brushy Creek there is alot of water in between but the depth is the key. Plenty of structure and deep water. Also will look towards Cow Creek as well. Probably will be throwing a big heavy football jig most of the time. Most of the replies have been using a big jig when they do hang into a big fish regardless if it is at nightime or daytime. Jerkbaits may come into play if we don't get some warmer nights.

I am an over the road truck driver now, so I wasn't home to fish much last year... and unfortunately it will be the same for me this year too. At any rate, feel free to PM me anytime concerning night fishing T. I am certainly not an expert at anything, but night fishing on Table Rock is my strong suit... and I will be happy to talk night fishing with you anytime.
