crappiefisherman Posted August 2, 2006 Posted August 2, 2006 I Think for family atmospere you need to shuffle on down to Lileys Landing and spend some time on the lake with your kids.Ive lived here 43 years and never drove by the place till last week.Beautiful place.I met a fellow down there who was I belive doing some yard work and he was very nice, he even didnt laugh out loud at me when i asked if phil lived in the big block house just upstream from the resort. It looked just like one of those fancy smancy places , but i was told it was the citys pump station.I got to get out more often [ [
Wayne SW/MO Posted August 2, 2006 Posted August 2, 2006 If you want to visit a park on Roark, take 248 west from 65, to the first light, take a left on Epps, the park is at the bottom of the long hill, on the left about 1/2 mile . Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted August 3, 2006 Root Admin Posted August 3, 2006 Tour the College of the Ozarks- great for kids and adults.
Danoinark Posted August 3, 2006 Posted August 3, 2006 I saw in our local paper in Harrison that the lady who owns a balloon ride has filed bankruptcy. I didn't even know she lived here in Ark. Maybe its not the one you were discussing. Phil is right about the College. I remember several years ago touring the museum there. My wife is one of the managers at Walmart on the strip (don't hate me for it) She says their business has been better this summer than last and apparently not effected by the Landing. I have got to go take a look at that place. Glass Has Class "from the laid back lane in the Arkansas Ozarks"
Thom Posted August 3, 2006 Posted August 3, 2006 Been to lake of the ozarks. Very nice and to the park that you mentioned. I just liked the walk along the lake past the ballparks and pavillion. I've been coming to Branson for over 20 years and things change but the memories are nice. Nice people both the locals and the ones that visit and make conservation. Seems people there usually have time to smile and share a story. I just can't see the landing offering that kind of athmosphere. I meant school of the ozarks. Nice musuem and grist mill and orchid display. I miss the resturant though. Thom Harvengt

ColdWaterFshr Posted August 3, 2006 Posted August 3, 2006 Whats the name of those paved trails by TR marina? I took the family and all our bikes there a few weeks back. We had fun riding the bikes from the Marina to the dam and back about 4-5 miles. No hills, easy ride, follows the lake and there are several places to picnic along the way, which we took advantage of -- watched the ducks enter and leave the lake - went on the Branson Belle boardwalk. Good times. Free. It would be great if they did something like this on the Landing. Or even better, if they could build more trails and connect them all the way to the landing. Get people out of their #$&@$^! cars.
snagged in outlet 3 Posted August 3, 2006 Posted August 3, 2006 I don't know if it's still there but my kids loved the exotic animal park. We were driving through and the giraffe came to the van for a snack. It was on my wife's side of the van and she was feeding it out of her hand through the open window. When he had eaten all she had I threw a handful of the feed corn between my wife's legs and had a great time watching the giraffe go after it. His head was in the window, down between my wife's legs and my wife had a hold of it's horns while his foot long tongue was trying to get at that corn in between her legs. The kids and I loved it but mom was pretty mad at me. The giraffe seemed to enjoy it too. Snagged.
vacation Posted August 3, 2006 Posted August 3, 2006 The trail system by 2008 will have more than 200 miles in the area and then connecting to Arkansas system which is huge. Look for new trails to go along Roark Creek, connecting to Landing, back towards Chateau and over to Indian Point. The Ozark Trail System just received 2.5 million from the state to expand the system. Statistically speaking, a trail system running through property is assest the same value as lake front property.
