There is a beer for every situation. Where applicable PBR cannot be beat. If I am grilling or on the river or playing softball or any other place where I will drink more than 3 brews, PBR is all that. If I am having a beer with a nice meal PBR is not all that and there are several brews I would choose over PBR. Although there are beers that are much cheaper than PBR they simply don't stack up. I did get a nice surprise yesterday evening when I made my Thusday night stop for a 6 pack of 16oz PBR and they were only $4.49. :D

Keep in mind that be it women, cars, fishing or beer. It all comes down to personal opinion. There are people out there who honestly think that Bud Light is the best beer going. They just can't help it.

Thanks, I was curious.

Carry on with the levity.

PBR sucks, and so does any AB product or Miller product or any other big-boy domestic garbage (except Sam Adams). But Jason's right that PBR is not as bad as some of the others. I'll drink Select if I'm going for all day hard-core guzzling just cuz it's cheap (enough) and it doesn't make you feel like raccoon roadkill in the summer heat. If I had to pick the best tasting crap beer it'd be the Champagne of Beers...that's right, the High Life.

When I want a beer that tastes like beer, I go for any of the hundreds of top-notch microbrews that are out there these days. That's beer, not that watery waste you see in commercials during the ballgame.

Well then it's true that I have very little use for actual beer... (except maybe as an ingredient in an Irish car bomb)

In that case Eric you don't want to know what we called Miller when I was young.:lol::lol:

Coors Banquet or Old Style are my preferred yellow water beers. And I think Bud products are just fine too, but to hell with that company! Besides, I can't taste much difference between ANY of them, especially when they are ice cold. Do yourself a favor and save your money on yellow beers by getting the cheapest you can buy. Got some PBR in the fridge for my lawn mowing and fishing requirements right now in fact. Right next to the bottles of Stone for my more sophisticated drinking sessions. :yaeh-am-not-durnk:

On to more important things. Just bought me a Shimano Curado yesterday - the 200E7 at BP for $139. Spooled it up with Maxima Ultragreen 10 lb. Can't wait to test it out. But in reading the instruction guide, I'm a little perplexed by the Variable Brake System (VBS). "The casting characteristics of the reel are easily modified by switching all or combinations of the six brake weights "on" or "off". Is this a trial and error type of deal? I gotta open that spool door and mess around with those little weights and find the right mix between that and the cast control knob? How am I ever going to settle on the right mix of all those endless combinations?

That depends on your thumb and what grade it finished. If it's well educated you probably only want one or two brakes active. If you're not sure start with three to get the hang of it and then deactivate one or two.

I'm kind of leaning that way myself, if only some of the better beers came in cans, or in the case of Shiner, the distributor would stock them.

I will adhere to my previous statement that if I am stocking a cooler for a day afloat, it is PBR, if I am stocking the fridge, it is something from Boulevard unless funds are a bit tight...
