eric1978 Posted June 13, 2011 Posted June 13, 2011 It's the teachers' job to teach reading, writing, math, science, etc...NOT to teach etiquette. That's above their pay grades. When a parent sends a POS kid to a school, that kid's gonna come home the same way, and that's not the teachers' problem. I don't expect an electrician to fix my toilet, and I don't expect a teacher to fix a stupid kid.
Walcrabass Posted June 13, 2011 Author Posted June 13, 2011 Same problems on LOZ this weekend. Didn't do much fishing, but just hanging out and swimming off the back of the anchored boat in a quiet cove was a challenge. Idiots would blow by on plane in 30 foot Sea Rays less than 15 feet away from us and throw off Bering Sea wakes. I don't know what that has to do with our "school systems" though. Like you said, even the "adults" are irresponsible, rude and self-absorbed. I don't think with our schools' current budgets "Boating Etiquette 101" is likely going to be a new class. It's the parents' fault. If you're an idiot, you're going to raise idiots, regardless of what school you send them to.
Walcrabass Posted June 13, 2011 Author Posted June 13, 2011 I was using the "Kindergarten" thing in hopes that people would see my comments and be a little embarrassed if they were part of the problem. That is why I put "NOT" in parenthesis in my comments. As far as the Bass go we found most of them in 15 foot or less of water. Did not get any by flipping in the brush.( Most were probably already ran out by Jet Ski people.) I did notice that the smaller Bass were caught on the 8" plastic worms. The bigger ones all came on Stand up Jigs with Craws or Y-Nots. Some were fished with just the head and some were fished with skirted Jigs. Green Pumpkin, Dirty Pumpkin, Bluegill Bandit, and Pumpkin Pepper Dazzle were the colors of the skirted Jigs. The Bluegill Bandit Jig with a Green Pumpkin/Red Flake Y-Not was the top dog producer. Biggest fish was 4.12 pounds but we caught several between 14.5" and 16". Jig Fishing should be fantastic for the rest of the year.
rps Posted June 13, 2011 Posted June 13, 2011 I'll stick in here with a couple of comments: At school, I have your children or grandchildren one or two hours a day for 185 days a year. Who do you think has more control or influence over the children, me or their parents and friends and television? Even if you sum all the teachers, it is still only seven hours a day. And if we do try to impose manners, respect, and good sense, the parents of the ones that need that the most are the ones most likely to call the principal and superintendent. Even if your principal or super backs you up, they still insist you spend your spare time placating the hooligan's real role model. As for the jetskis, I have said it before and I'll say it again. We need to spray where they breed.

Are you blaming the schools or not? I must be confused, because I don't see how it's relevant in any way. Stupid people are born stupid, and then their stupidity is reinforced by their stupid parents. By the time they make it to school, their stupid is so firmly set in stone, no teacher can change it.

Same dung here this weekend, we had people in Mastercrafts wake boarding around timber that was anywhere from 1 two 3 feet below the surface. I was hoping for a disaster in the back of my mind but, nothing other than a bunch of low class pieces of dung with their eight can speakers playing their dung music and passing down their pathetic, rude, antics to their hopeless ignorant children. These low lifes were throwing wakes right up on top of peoples docks and playing chicken with other boats coming at them???? when did this crap start???? I had two different guys swerve at me in an attempt to make me go over???? weird crap. We also saw so many stupid parents I could only assume, riding their little kids in front of them letting their very small children operate the jet ski???? STUPID!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Boating, it's like alcohol it will reveal out your true character......it's the truth serum. I have sooo much respect for people who operate their boats safely and with in the eyes of the law.Even though others around them feel it is more fun to operate their boat like a piece of dung!!!!!!!!!!!! sorry, we saw some really dumb crap this weekend reconsidering my idea of boating

Smalliebigs Posted June 13, 2011 Posted June 13, 2011 Jesus, man.... That's rough... I hate to be so filled with venom but, some lessons need to be learned some way some how. There are aspects of boating I truly do enjoy but, watching true lack of respect for private property as well as the safety of others from individuals sometimes makes me hope for an epiphany that will change their ways. I guess I should hope they watch a public service anouncement about boating and not acting like a piece of dung instead of a looser getting his wake board tangled in a Cedar limb. thanks for trying to point out i'm an asshole.........pirate master
