GotMuddy,

I wasn't the first to bring that up in this post but I am honored that I am being quoted, here.

even trading sex for a quick high..... I tried my best to help her as much as I possible could...

Did'ja get your monies worth?

Just kidding.

With the type of people like you described, I think it has more to do with their (addictive) personality and wanting to get into the hard stuff for whatever reason than anything. I've seen just as many make the same transitions but with alcohol/pills/huffing/whatever and never even touch the weed.

I have spent most of my money on fly fishing and beer. The rest I just wasted.

Good point...

Any time you give the government the authority to involve themselves more and more into people's lives without a solid toolbox of solutions and grounding in the overall mission that is sought to be accomplished, you're asking for trouble. Which is what I think this is.

Agreed!!

/Sarcasm/ I mean who needs personal responsibility, isn't that what we've got laws for?/Sarcasm/

Leonard's special coffee turned me into an alcoholic, lost my job, have all kinds of time on my hands now to fish and collect welfare and unemployement. Oh wait it was just a dream, oh well back to work.

One things for certain, if your story were true at least you know Leonard wouldnt blame your lack of personal responsibility, but would take the blame upon himself for having turned to you and said "Would you like a cup of my special coffee, little boy? Step into my van.. Mwah ha ha"

Now don't you feel silly, Leonard? You dope pusher, you...

Alcohol is a gateway drug, too.

Pot should be legal until alcohol AND tobacco are both ILLEGAL. In fact, one could (and many do) make the argument that pot is far safer than both alcohol and tobacco. People typically don't kill other people while driving high...unless they fall asleep (in which case working too many hours should be illegal, too). People don't go home and beat their wives after a doobie. People don't die every seven seconds from pot-related illnesses...cancer, liver and heart disease...A&T is doing that en masse. More people in this country die every five minutes from obesity complications than the number of folks who die in a year from the health effects of pot. And pot is not physically addictive, regardless of what anyone says.

Also, pot is NATURAL. Grows right outa the ground from seeds sown by mother nature herself. Might as well make tomatoes illegal.

I've never heard of anyone "trading sex" for pot, unless that person was inclined to do so for just about anything else as well.

I agree with everything else you said, Leonard, and I do think that welfare recipients should be tested for marijuana simply because they CANNOT spend MY money on luxuries like a bag of weed if they can't afford food, rent and electricity.

For the record, I am not a pot smoker.

Lot's of people make those kinds of arguments and they're wrong too.

Just because it is "natural" doesn't mean it's safe or harmless. Tobacco is natural and it grows from the ground just like the curly weed. Both are bad for your lungs and your body, but due to the vastly larger numbers of tobacco addicts we know more about the harmful effects of tobacco. Peter Tosh will tell you weed is safe and even good for you, but he isn't a health researcher.

Opium is also natural as is uranium, snake venoms, puffer fish toxins etc.

I wish we didn't have to deal with the evils alcohol and tobacco either, but using weed makes you a defacto criminal. And while I'll agree that pot isn't as addictive as tobacco, there certain has been a lot of people that have thrown their lives away using it.

And more functioning and successful habitual users than you could even imagine. Users that have done so for decades and never "progressed" to anything more. They're out there, man.

Indeed, but why hit em up with that kinda logic? No one wants to hear it... I'm perfectly happy naturally... Now, isn't it time for my medication? :doh!!:

I am glad to see the new law on the books. If you want to waste your life on drugs then go ahead and be my guest...just don't expect me to pay/help you do it. Legalize marijuana, tax the hell out of it and use thet taxes to help fund healthcare for the elderely and pay down the national debt. Let the drug users support us for a change.
