fishinwrench Posted September 1, 2011 Posted September 1, 2011 This baloney has been going on for 10+ years, if they are convinced that this is a serious issue then why all the foot dragging? Either ban it, or dont..... but hurry up and make a decision for crying out loud!
Gavin Posted September 1, 2011 Posted September 1, 2011 The decision has been made...but they havent released the proposed language and the implementaion date yet. We know the Who, What, Why, & How...no use arguing about the Where & When until an official statement is released. You might as well spend that time earning money &shopping for new boots;>)!
fishinwrench Posted September 1, 2011 Posted September 1, 2011 The White contracted didymo quite awhile back, yet it is still a destination fishery. What about the cases in NZ, has the fishery been severely effected, or is there still good fishing there? It just seems to me that they are really milking the research and decision making time to the point that if it is a serious threat it will be far too late before any ban is put into place. What do I know though, since I have only read about and/or seen pictures of dymo...and have never knowingly stood in it or touched it personally. Who here has done the Didy'? Show of hands...
Members Bruegy Posted September 1, 2011 Members Posted September 1, 2011 Outside Bend, i am glad you are an expert and can educate anglers on the matter, but there is no need to turn others comments into some thing negative. I never implied that anglers should not be responsible to prevent the spread. If banning felt will stop our streams from becoming contaminated then i am all for it. There is nothing else that i have found that grips like felt, this will make wading more dangerous, especially for those with not the best of balance.

I so agree with the safety issue most people over 50 do not like to slip and fall and chance a broken hip, even folks with bi-focal glasses have an issue during wading. But I am sure somebody will come up with an alternative sole for the boots as soon as more states do this and the money starts pouring in. Take a Child Fishing they are the future of the sport.

YOu have hit the nail on the head Bruegy. Being elderly with a bad hip, it will force me to use something with a studded sole. Add the fact that I fish at night most of the time, it truely concerns me. But like everyone else we will comply with any and all new regulations.
bigredbirdfan Posted September 1, 2011 Posted September 1, 2011 This is BS there are so many regulations at these places it makes you not want to go. Slot limit here, no lead there, can't wear felt shoes, no bait this 100 feet, flies up here, not down there. I mean absolutlely mind boggling for a put and take species. If they really care ban the sale of them in Missouri and then they can buy my pair from me or give me a trade in.
Idylwilde Posted September 1, 2011 Posted September 1, 2011 At this time only Trout waters are being the places the ban will be. Warm water is OK. More slick rocks in warm water anyway. And I understand the MDC has a quick and easy & cheap way to make the felt you now have legal it will be on the site in a few weeks. So don't panic and rush out and spent big bucks till all this settles down. Take a Child Fishing they are the future of the sport.
Danoinark Posted September 1, 2011 Posted September 1, 2011 New boots and I think I'll get one of these too. http://www.azod.com/fishing/FlyFishing/Archives/2002/Gladder%20Bladder-Product%20Review%20and%20Field%20Test%20by%20Terry%20Chia.htm Glass Has Class "from the laid back lane in the Arkansas Ozarks"
Idylwilde Posted September 1, 2011 Posted September 1, 2011 Hope it don't spring a leak! OMG what would happen to the stream then. LOL Take a Child Fishing they are the future of the sport.
