Since getting back from Alaska, I have been doing a little fishing on Lake Taneycomo. Mostly at night on the week days. The fishing for rainbows has been pretty good. I did catch a 4 or 5 pounder this morning before it got light out on a weighted size 8 grey scud. There seems to be good concentrations of rainbows below outlet 2 on the north bank just before the second set of steps. Wow, did the rebar hole ever change. Thought I was gonna get wet a few times down there with one more step into the abyss. Lots of rainbow activity below the tree in the shallows. Grey and tan scuds worked very well down there also before the sun came up this morning. Had a lot of fun stripping a white mink conehead picking up quite a few fish the last few times I have been down. There are some browns in the area. A few of them are big, but I have not personally seen any real monsters. The numbers dont quite seem as high as I've seen at this time in the past. Hopefully more will move up soon.

Well that was the fishing report, now time for the "And"....

When I haven't been fishing, I've been keeping myself busy with a little project getting ready for the up coming duck season and I thought I would share it with you guys.

You see last year I duck hunted out of a canoe, alot of times by myself. When hunting on these lakes, that would make for a lot of paddling and a long time getting from the truck to the hunting spot. Working on an upgrade this year.

I call it the "Duck Duster" and it is for covert duck hunting operations on Lake Taneycomo, Bull Shoals, and Table Rock Lake. It is designed for quick scouting of duck infested waters and rapid deployment to blind locations along with speedy retreival of downed waterfowl.

This should reduce my paddling time just a little bit.

Water legal for operation in the wee hours of the morning just before daylight.

comes with it's own built in cammo system and waterfowl retrieval net

The ducks will never see it and no more wrestling with large tarps to cover the canoe

this thing is one toothy critter

I got the gun sleeves attached today, but no picture yet.

Working on ideas for towing or dragging a gear sled and possible outrigger pontoons to make it stable enough for 2 people.

So far everything rides fine and feels stable for one person, but I would really like to be able to take DD'sMC along.

Looks like the ticket DD. Mount a few goose decoys to the hull, and a rod holder for trolling a fly.

Interesting. maybe some 12 slot bags rigged as saddle bags. That would get you 2 doz without a sled.

I've been thinking about something like that. I'm only gonna carry a dozen though. That would leave some room for extras like a folding hunting chair and another ghillie tarp for a portable blind.

There is a guy who hunts Beaver with a rig like that for his decoys he just took a decoy sled and put 6'' PVC pipe all around it and filled it with foam. I think he is nuts because ive seen him out there on days i question myself in a 19' boat! But he sure kills alot of birds.

I've got a sled coming tomorrow. I like the pvc idea. Does he tow it with a rope or directly attached to the back of the rig?
