So I am fishing below outlet 2 near the overhanging tree when I hear (just add 4 dozen cuss words) I am going to punch you in the (cuss) mouth if you do that again. you did this (cuss) yesterday and i should have (cuss cuss cuss) punched you in the (cuss cuss) face then.

Then they start yelling about etiquette and then dude #1 says "if you cross my lines again i will grab it and rip it all out of your (cuss) reel

dude #2 "well come on, take the first swing and then i will have every reason to knock you the (cuss) out

this is going on for 5 mins, finally dude #1 after yelling about etiquette hooks a fish, actually lifts it out of the water (like the bass guys do) swings it to the bank, drags it along the bank to another dude, he then takes the fish off and throws into a creel.

now dude #2 starts yelling about "OH thats real good etiquette treating a fish like that....

dude #1 (cuss) you! you (cuss cuss cuss cuss)

it was priceless to see these two, i dont know what happened on saturday, but it must have been epic.

it was pretty sad to see these two act the way they did in front of all those people and dude #1 really needs to take an anger management class or two.

anyway, fishing was ok, got most of the hits on a dark colored scud, really didnt see a ton of action except for the 2 middleweights.

You are so stupid you threw a rock at the ground and missed.

I was told of an incident on saturday, and what you described, you must have witnessed round 2. It's always the same from season to season with a different cast of characters. When you stake a claim in the outlet, be prepared for tresspassers. It's the way the game is played and you "should" just learn to live with it. Most do, but some never learn and incidents like this occur. The term "combat fishing" takes on a whole new perspective. In my book, I talk about anglers fishing the outlet with most having the streamside manners of a grizzly bear. You establish a pecking order, and when you repeatedly cross the line {no pun intended}, be prepared for a reprisal ranging from a fair warning to actual fisticuffs. I fish the outlets quite often and I in no way mean any disrespect to other anglers who do the same. It can be quite entertaining at times.

personal story***

A few years ago I was fishing in outlet 2 .. not many people there(may 3-4)...

This guy walks in right next to .. and starts fishing over my lines... we are getting tangled up about every cast... he then says to me...

"Appearently you dont know what your doing .. so why dont you step back and let someone in there that knows how to fish"..

a cast or two later.. I get broke off...

he comment... "Its about darn time!"

so I take a few steps back and start to retie....

he ends up snagging 3 fish.... and says...

"see... told you I know what I was doing".....

I tied on some 6lbs line and put on a big T&A rainbow.... getting it good and wet before going back in..

I made 1 cast and hammered a 23in brown.... The guy says to me..

"You need to back up.. Im fishing in this spot"

so the other guys are starting to talk.. and he is hearing them... I walk across to the other side of the outlet.. tossed in about and WHAM... I caught a 25in bow.....

This guy needs needs a bar of soap he was so mad... the other guys are just laughing there butts of... he stomps hes way out of the outlet... up the stairs.... and yells down to us..

***you guy can go to (censor,censor,censor,censor)... the fishing here (censor) sucks!"

and flips us the bird

So much for a relaxing day of fishing for them to fellas. I had two gentlemen down there on Saturday and of course they were running water so the wading options were very limited. We ended up fishing half way down between #2 and #3. Most fish were caught on a white shammy, some on grey scuds, and a few on micro eggs. These two caught about 15 to 20 fish each. The outlet was very crowded but we steered clear of it. I really do not like fishing down there on the weekends unless it is about 12 degrees and snowing hard. Most people stay home then.

Leonard....dont you love it when people try to tell you how to fish Taney! LOL!

A Little Rain Won't Hurt Them Fish.....They're Already Wet!!

Maybe small fish on small streams isn't so bad after all.

I've heard gun play threatened at Cow Shoals.

I myself have been known to offer to break someones casting arm for illegal encroachment in my younger days.

Not in the outlets or the trout parks though. Well, maybe once at Bennett in the area now known as "Pete's Blue Pipe Hole".

But I had a hangover.

Well if this is what tailwaters do to a guy, I guess I'll stick to unregulated Ozark streams. I thought the folks upstream of the dam had the market cornered on a-hole fishing etiquette? ;)

It would've been interesting to witness, but it's a shame people can't restrain themselves more on the water. I mean, the whole point is to relax, right?
