jeb Posted December 11, 2011 Posted December 11, 2011 That is a great fish! What colors did you purchase? Thanks. As I said above, I caught her on the Pro Blue STX. I also bought a Midnight Blue Silver and French Pearl, but neither of those have been wet yet. John B 08 Skeeter SL210, 225F Yamaha
jeb Posted December 11, 2011 Posted December 11, 2011 and a PRETTY fish. Nicely marked. She was a very nice looking fish. Very healthy. I wish I'd taken a picture of her belly. She was eating well, that's for sure! Nice fat fish. I've seen a few 5+lbers on Beaver over the years that looked like they'd been in a bar fight, so always nice to see bigger ones still in good shape. BTW, I went ahead and ordered three of the silly things this morning ... one in pro blue, one in midnight blue silver and one in secret night. An 8-pounder in my own backyard is enough to convince me. Hope they work well for you. Now I need to stop talking about these things before everyone gets some and educates all the big girls. Members That_Guy Posted December 13, 2011 Members Posted December 13, 2011 Awesome fish Jeb! Best fish of the year? Umm my best fish ever is barely half of that! Good to hear that the STX is a good $8 alternative option that works compared to buying the $25 vision 110's. I just got 5 STX from tacklewarehouse last week in the black friday sale. 2 Pro Blue, 2 Stealth Flash and 1 French Pearl. Went to BPS here in STL last week to see if they had any Luck E Strike Warthogs on the shelves yet because they show them available online (sold out immediately) and wanted to buy a few just to check them out as they are only $4. The BPS store didnt have them in yet but had the Clunn STX and they only had 1 Pro Blue left compared to the other colors completely stocked. I guess the Pro Blue is the hot color. I just bought 4 of the the Luck E Strike Warthogs friday and took them to the lake saturday. After and average of about 10 minutes each one of them would fill up with water. No visable holes on the baits. Has anyone else had this problem? Do you think I should try to take them back to Bass Pro or call Luck E Strike? Meat Without Feet

jeb Posted December 14, 2011 Posted December 14, 2011 I've fished both of my Pro Blue STX's now. Neither one filled with any water at all. And I was watching them for that very thing, too, since I've had it happen to Megabass 110's. John B 08 Skeeter SL210, 225F Yamaha
Quillback Posted December 14, 2011 Posted December 14, 2011 I've got a Pro Blue STX that has caught around 20 bass over the last week for me. No water filling issues. I did change out the split rings and hooks. I was tossing a Pro Blue Megabass the other day, when I was retying it I noticed one of the eyes was gone. Darn things are awfully fragile for a $25 lure.
Mike Worley Posted December 14, 2011 Posted December 14, 2011 The RC STX has been working for me on BSL for walleyes. I have had to replace the front hook & split ring after catchuing a 4 LBer that really clobbered the lure. I had a tuff time finding a hook & split ring that weighed the same but got one within 1 grain which held up to a couple of walleyes yesterday. Does anyone know what brand of hook Luck E Strike is using on this bait?

I usally add a little 0.030 lead wire. If I have to add beefier split rings or hooks, I'll just use less lead, but I understand the concern. Red's in Lakeview has replacement hooks for the Megabass 110's. Since the RC STX is a direct copy, you could try those hooks. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. abkeenan Posted December 15, 2011 Posted December 15, 2011 What size and brand of split rings is good for switching the STX stock rings out?
Members freelancer 11 Posted December 16, 2011 Members Posted December 16, 2011 I'm glad to see a bait company that makes all their baits here in AMERICA. Don't really care if it is a knock-off because everything in the fishing industry is repeated. Atleast they have jobs here and the profits stay in the USA.
