I need to find my CD I burned with Bill's jerk bait talk...great listening on the way to the lake.

I picked up a couple of these today at our BPS. I will say, they look pretty darn nice for the price. But, how they perform will be the real test. I will say, one concern I have are the tiny, thin wire split rings on the hooks. They REALLY seem like a weak link. I understand with the 3 trebles, typically more than 1 hook will get caught on the fish, but from the looks of these flimsy split rings......lets hope so. :huh1:

I have fished the one I got a few times and I can say that you are right about the split rings. My 3rd casts with it I hooked a solid keeper that dove under the boat and pulled the front hook and split ring off of the bait. You also have to reel or pull them down before you start twitching them or it rolls out of the water occasionally. On the plus side, the finish has lasted well after several fish and they seem pretty durable. I had a fish jump and toss the bait that slammed into my trolling motor shaft. Knowing how bad the lips on megabass are I figured I was probably the proud owner of a new bait with no lip but to my surprise the bait was still whole and worked fine. They may not be exactly like a megabass but they are worth a try for sure.

I bought one of the RC STX out of curiosity in Pro Blue color. I threw it around fish busting shad this past weekend and caught several. Appears to be identical to the MegaBass in design. They run 3-4' deep and the hooks are sticky sharp.

I'll be getting more, for $8 it's a good deal.

Uh oh. Now to find stout enough split rings that won't throw off the buoyancy/action. :shocked...again:

I'm well ahead of you ham, just haven't gotten around to it. But, I've not had good luck with keeping suspending baits....suspending, after swapping out hooks/split rings. Seems the fraction of an ounce difference is enough to send them sinking......but......only one way to find out.

On a side note too.....the trebles appear to be a lighter wire, but seem better quality than most stock hooks. But, you're right, toothy critters or even fatter fish will destroy most hooks. White bass fishing throughout the summer keeps me busy swapping out trebles on my cranks! :secret-laugh:

Good thing about the 110s is that they slow float and this makes them very "tweakable" with paint, hooks, etc...til the water gets warm anyway..

I throw mine on 8 to 10 pound line. I don't think I have to worry about breaking split rings before my line snaps.

I was throwing mine on 10lb mono and a 6' 2" M/XF Avid when that fish pulled the hook and split ring off.

This a local company seems we could find a factory outlet connection for all the cranks without split rings and hooks at a savings then upgrade with better hardware. Does anyone have a contact with the company?

Finally got to fish it today on a Bella Vista, Ark lake with a good jerk bait bite going. Had a GREAT day with it. The big fish loved it. Here's the biggest girl, just over 8lbs. 8lb fish do NOT grow on trees here in NW Ark, so it's quite a prize. My biggest fish this year by about 1/2lb.

6lb Pline Flouroclear, Stella reel, Loomis SJR783 GLX rod. Pro Blue STX, completely stock except hooks were sharpened. I did break one barb off the rear treble on the 8lber. But I've busted hooks on the 110's, too. I switch all the hooks out now, but wanted to fish the STX stock once just to see.

Quillback was fishing an Ima Flit in the front of the boat, and was also catching fish. He eventually switched to the MB Vision 110 and did catch fish on it, too. But the 2 biggest fish of the day came on the STX.

So I'm pretty impressed with the STX at this point, as you can imagine. I'll for sure be buying more of them to go with, and probably eventually replace, all my 110's.

Now that is a quality fish. It may be your best of the year, but for many it would be a best ever.

So I guess you are now confident in the STX?
