David Unnerstall Posted December 8, 2011 Posted December 8, 2011 I am curious how everyone thinks, here. Do we blame Albert for giving into his pride/greed? Or do we blame the ballclub for not paying him what he is worth?
exiledguide Posted December 8, 2011 Posted December 8, 2011 I am curious how everyone thinks, here. Do we blame Albert for giving into his pride/greed? Or do we blame the ballclub for not paying him what he is worth? It's a buiness. I think it is bad for both. Pujols will never be treated as well anywhere else. Had he stayed he would have been considered equal to Stan Musial, he gave that up. The Cardinals have to worry about selling tickets they have to win without him. If they had signed him being competative competative would have worked, not now. My family is probably in baseball mourning right now but they will get over it.
Ham Posted December 9, 2011 Posted December 9, 2011 I would rather he had stayed as a Cardinal, but you can't blame a free agent when he chooses to leave. Cards maybe should have signed him to a 10 year deal at full market value 4 years ago, but at this point a 10 year deal for that player is a mistake AND I don't think anyone on this planet is worth that much money a year to do any job in the world. Bascially, I blame neither. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish
jdmidwest Posted December 10, 2011 Posted December 10, 2011 Its the people that buy tickets that support the franchise. If the Cards had retained him, the price of tickets would have went up... tippet7 Posted December 11, 2011 Posted December 11, 2011 I blame the agents. They are trying to get the player all hyped up and tell them they can get to be the highest paid player at X position. Does Albert really need 220 million on top of endorsements and incentives? does anyone really think that he and his family is going to spend 400 million in their lifetimes? probably not. For the last couple of years all you heard from pujols was "i want to retire a cardinal" BS. There are very few players anymore who play for "love of the the game" and in all honesty, i hope pujols does well in LA, however on the other hand, i hope he breaks his leg in spring training and throws out his shoulder the day after he comes off the DL. Then he can retire as an angel becuase the Cards fans wont want him to wear their uniform in the HOF. By the way, i am not a cards fan, in fact i hate the cards. i just love baseball and good ridance to pujols You are so stupid you threw a rock at the ground and missed.
