gitnby Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 I have heard, but have never tried this to unlock a car from a remote location. Call home, have someone on the other end of the phone hold your electronic spare key up to the phone, unlock the door using the open button. I'm told it will work sometimes. That won't work! The signal that is transmitted is an RF signal, which is inaudible, therefore can't be sent over a cell phone or any phone. The sounds you hear are just so you know it is working. I think there may be some new technology that allows you to have an app on your smart phone that will send some type of signal either similar to what Onstar does, or it has the same RF code that your fob has? My 2010 has a keyless igniton that won't allow the doors to lock if the fob is stil in the car, and won't start unless it IS in the car.
powerdive Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 A-Rig throwers, just curious. Are you seeing a lot of swing-and-miss fish that get hooked outside the mouth?
Bill Babler Posted January 31, 2012 Author Posted January 31, 2012 That is a lot of questions. A-Rig 3/8th. oz. Most jig heads at 1/8th. or 3/16th. Some guys are clipping off the hook to keep it legal. 5 baits seem to get more strikes than 3 but 3 will most shurly work. There are lots of companies marketing the 3 hook rigs. Using a few Storm baits, the hook is really just to good and when you hand that heavy hook "You Will loose the entire Rig." A little softer hook will sometimes bend out. Buster Loving uses nothing but 4" Swimming minnows in Peral and catches as many as anyone. They are dirt cheap. I belive Denny is just using grubs and doing well on them. Guys, this deal can get pricy. It is really still now very wide open and in a trial and error phase. Just have to fish it to see what you like best as the fish catchers. http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
dtrs5kprs Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 This is a thread that shows why this is a great forum...everything from current lake info, to new techniques, to vehicle how not to's.
Jason Essary Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 Bill, wonderful info as always. Unless the creek floods tonight I will be out in the morning to try my first hand at the rig. Will let everyone know what not to do when I return. I have been using 1/4oz jig heads with Reaction innovations little dippers and they work great. I caught one that was 6-6.5lbs on this set up. The baits were all the same color too. The A-rig is a very simple rig not rocket science. Don't overthink it. Put something that looks like minnows and chuck it.
Cajunangler Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 Good info on the Bama rigs. I am heading the Alabama to fish Lake Jordan and a few other private locations soon. I hope to try these things out in their home state. "For you Chevy Owners. Buster accidently locked my keys in the Avalanche at Buck Creek. Call my OnStar and they said my subscription expired, Dec. 12th. Said when it expires you have to go to the dealer cause they send a signal to burn out the receiving module. They could not unlock it. Had to go from Blue Eye to Buck Creek 2 times. Could be a deal breaker for me on the Chevy's I started out yesterday at 3:30 AM and got home and the boat put up at 8PM." I know this is sort of a side topic and can honestly say that some of the information shared (since I drive a Suburban) I wish would have been left off of this or any other public internet converstaion. ie. How to break into a chevy truck!! But Bill I just had to ask: What other company offers the ability to open your vehicle via a satelite feed? And would do so after the subscription expires? I also locked my keys in my suburban a couple of years back and was quite upset BUT I couldn't get mad at GM since it was an accident that I caused and I chose to drop the onstar thing after its initial 12 month period. Honestly, it didn't even occur to me to give them a call. It is too bad that GM hasn't adopted a policy to help out GM owners with a "lock service" program requiring a per incident fee, but I am sure their response was directly caused by individuals needing that service but not having a current subscription. I doubt very seriously any part was disabled since they can still track and disable vehicles when law enforcement agencies get involved. As Forrest Gump would say "-hit Happens! and we just have to deal with it and move forward.
balsabee Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 There is so much good information on here I thought I would post what I found a few weeks ago for anyone wanting to save a few bucks. http://www.bbcboards.net/zerothread?id=760132&page=1
Bill Babler Posted February 1, 2012 Author Posted February 1, 2012 Great post on the making of the A-Rig. First off on the truck keys, the Key for the 2011 Avalanche has a chip and cannot be made at the hardware store. The Key is $80.00. My subscription to OnStar ran out after 6 months, They had previously been good for a year. I was told by the OnStar person that as soon as the Subscription runs out, they send a signal to the vehicle and burn out the receiver so you have to have it replaced at the GM dealer for a new subscription. Reguardless, they would not open the SUV. Ford has a key pad on the outside of the vehicle so you can always get in it. Fished today up the White River and had Zero on the A-Rig and 11 with 4 keeps on a Megabass. Fished the stickbait first on each location, then came back with the A-Rig. Just expermenting. http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
