Mitch f Posted February 8, 2012 Posted February 8, 2012 or have your children raped or beaten while participating in church activitys than while enjoying the great outdoors. That's a fact. Do you pack heat in church? That sounds a bit far fetched, where do you come up with these stats? Have been involved off and on in church my whole life and the only fight that ever broke out was when our youth group went into a basketball game down in the city and a couple of the players got punched. On the other hand I know of several drunks on a float trip that have harassed other canoers and several fights broke out. Just ask Corey at Huzzah Valley or Mark at Adventure Outdoors how many times there have been problems. There actually used to be a sign on Hiway 44 Eastbound by a Law firm that stated "Trouble on the river?" call "the Blankity blank Law Firm". jdmidwest Posted February 9, 2012 Author Posted February 9, 2012 Well, this really went off topic... I've never carried a gun, don't plan on ever getting a CC permit. But I keep a shotgun under the bed at home with the shells within easy reach. Which brings up another of the issues already mentioned, which I will talk about in a minute. In my opinion, an ounce of prevention is worth several ammo boxes of cure. If you are aware of your surroundings and aware of the bad things that can happen, you can almost always avoid them. It took my wife a long time to realize this. She thought that she had an unlimited right to speak her mind, and several times on float trips when she saw some dork doing something really obnoxious like tossing empty beer cans in the river, she'd let them know in no uncertain terms what she thought about it. Which left me getting ready to flee or fight. Fortunately, I never had to fight, but I finally impressed upon her that she was putting me in an untenable position where I was either going to have to start bringing the artillery along or let her defend herself. Jeesh, how many beer cans did you have to sail off her head to get her to sit still and be quiet? Who got this thread off the rails onto this. fishinwrench Posted February 9, 2012 Posted February 9, 2012 That sounds a bit far fetched, where do you come up with these stats? I quoted them from Julien Penn, feel free to double check his sources....I'll take his word for it until you set me straight.
Fishslayer88 Posted February 9, 2012 Posted February 9, 2012 Guns are like rubbers its better to have one and not need it then to need it and not have one. And i do know that there is a good chance of running into a dumb meth head on the river because not 3 miles from my house the water patrol found a meth lab 10 yards off the river bank, they had been set up for about a month and a half and i believe they were running my limb lines I also don't think every dumb butt should carry a pistol either CC fixes some of that when you take the class. i got my first gun on my tenth birthday and i am now a CC license holder my xdm .40 or walther ppq 9mm are usually with me but i rarely ever take them floating instead i bring my single shot .410 just to keep the snakes in check
fishinwrench Posted February 9, 2012 Posted February 9, 2012 I think it's time to put to rest the tired old false flag fear that pot growers and Meth heads are profoundly notorious for killing random people. Most of the information you have processed is only there because it has been pounded in your head so that you'll continue to support certain lucrative projects that your tax dollars are funding. When everyone began referring to their Sporting arms as "weapons".....it really bummed me out. That's not a healthy mental state IMO.... I'd rather take my chances.
Fishslayer88 Posted February 9, 2012 Posted February 9, 2012 umm pot growers are fine... but i did grow up with a twacked out father and he was crazy as dung, i had to take all the guns out of the house and live with my grandma because he wanted to shoot me for some reason.... meth heads aren't crazy my butt
FishinCricket Posted February 9, 2012 Posted February 9, 2012 lol @ Wrench's "I'll take my chances.." I can think of ZERO situations where I would end up saying "Man, it's a good thing I DIDN'T bring my firearm!" But then again I don't tend to "take my chances" either... cricket.c21.com
