Wayne SW/MO Posted March 4, 2012 Posted March 4, 2012 You should be assamed of yourself, the poor things probably thought it was cold enough for a shad kill. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.

Buzz Posted March 5, 2012 Posted March 5, 2012 Thanks for posting a pic. I see why it works. If fishing was easy it would be called catching.
On The Fly 6 Posted March 5, 2012 Posted March 5, 2012 Saturday was my first day to fish the lake. I remember 3 gentleman asking me if I had a tape measure as I fished the deep pocket water of what I assume is the rebar hole. I finished the day with 3 fish, but I think it was the beauty of the water and its surrounding area that will bring me back! You guys have a beautiful fishery there at Taneycomo and im already looking forward to another trip! duckydoty Posted March 5, 2012 Author Posted March 5, 2012 Yes you were fishing the rebar hole and that would have been my buddy, Ryan, me and the guy that wanted to keep the fish asking if you had the tape measure. He sure wanted to keep that fish bad. I kept having to tell him to put it back down in the water so it can breath while we figured out a way to see if it was legal for him to keep it or not. That hole can be tough to fish sometimes. Making sure you have enough weight to get the fly down is probably the biggest issue there. A Little Rain Won't Hurt Them Fish.....They're Already Wet!! DaddyO Posted March 5, 2012 Posted March 5, 2012 Duane, How do you keep that tail from unraveling with that kind of chenille? I've tried singeing the ends but it usually still comes apart. DaddyO We all make decisions; but, in the end, our decisions make us.
duckydoty Posted March 5, 2012 Author Posted March 5, 2012 I get the core thread to burn and that has been working for me. That is also why I have been tapering it before burning so I dont get just a wad of melted material at the ends. A Little Rain Won't Hurt Them Fish.....They're Already Wet!! Visit my website at.. Gavin Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 Very nice Duane...where do you get that chenille?...maybe a bit of Tear Mender glue on the ends instead of fire?
duckydoty Posted March 6, 2012 Author Posted March 6, 2012 I got that from Tim's Flyshop. Tear mnder might work. A Little Rain Won't Hurt Them Fish.....They're Already Wet!! Visit my website at.. Ozark Trout Runners
