Are rattlesnakes protected in MO? The article mentioned a rattlesnake skin.

I've never heard of anyone getting in trouble for wasting one, even after their picture with it in the local paper is published.....

So I'm goonna say "no", they aren't "protected".

Actually rattlesnakes and all other snakes ARE protected. The Wildlife Code is a "permissive" code; if it doesn't state that it's legal to kill it, it isn't legal to kill it. And nowhere does it say that snakes are legal to kill. In practice, they seldom go after somebody who kills a rattlesnake, but they can...kinda like getting Al Capone for not paying taxes, if they want to make an example or pile on charges, having an illegally taken rattlesnake skin is convenient.

Wouldn't an agent or a LEO be going against his oath then, by turning a blind eye to people openly and blatently bragging about it ?

I remember when Mark Twain lake was filling up, as the water level rose snakes were on the move like crazy. There wasn't a week gone by that someones picture wasn't in the paper with a big dead snake. Moccasins, copperheads and rattlers mostly were what made the papers, along with dinosaur-sized snapping turtles.

Hell, my dad killed so many snakes he shoulda been doing life in prison. And he wasn't the only one either.

Speaking of "sitting on your nuts" doesn't it seem ironic that a lawman can pick and choose which law he is going to enforce on any given day. And turn a blind eye to the ones he "personally" doesn't really care about. Some system we have, hu?

They need to be out putting out more decoys and making contact with anglers on lakes a lot more often instead of just in the summer months. I think Ive only been asked for my fishing license once my whole life, wich to me is alarming. Whos out really making sure those A rigs only have 3 hooks?
