Just curious, when and why did Browns become so much more "special" than Rainbows?

I love catching me some rainbows too. The challenge of catching a brown and the ability for them to grow much larger puts them a notch above stocker rainbows for me. A 20 inch wild rainbow would be the ultimate in Missouri.

I like them both basically...

Browns are not anymore special than rainbows. We have plenty of rainbows and we love them. The topic is about browns because we want them to be manged properly.

Northern and Brute, you guys are giving me the answers that could be used to sway MDC. let me throw another wrinkle in it.

On those notes how would you draft a letter to anglers groups to try anf get their support behind you and then through the voices of a larger group be able to draft a letter to MDC with many signatures backing it and showing up at mettings.

We could start with this site...

The potential to become big and trophy size is greater in browns then rainbows.

Again, I don't think that's the answer. We'd have too many smaller browns competing and not being able to reach trophy sizes. Given the stocking numbers, we need fish to be taken out.

I don't agree with that logic... you would have to show me the literature on that approach.

I honestly haven't felt the need to draft a letter to MDC about this issue and feel that their brown trout management is pretty good, especially on the Current. I am certainly willing to help with any future issues though.
