Thats awesome, glad they are doing some good.

Knowing many high school administrators, they don't arbitrarily suspend kids.Thats why I suggested that there's more to the story. I'm not passing any judgement on school or the kids, I don't know any of them. There are many "good" kids every year that get suspended for doing something that they were forewarned not to do, or else they would be suspended. I can remember kids at a NE ARK school turning loose 3 goats in a school, nothing in handbook says you can't do that, but they still got suspended. Funniest part about that story.... the goats were painted and numbered....1.....2.....4

I followed it pretty close, Apparently the Kids checked the school rule books, talked to the local PD to be sure they were legal ( several parents confirmed this ) and they put the parking pass on the mowers to be legal at school also. It appears the Assistant principle just has a Corn Cob of epic size stuck someplace where the sun dont shine. Funny thing is his actions made these boys famous and they used it for good. I tip my hat to the boys for turning what could have been a war of words and or worse into something real good. Nice to see now-a-days.

This.

Whether you agree with it or not most schools look poorly on senior pranks- liability issues and a distraction from education. Most administrators make it clear to the student body that pranks will not be tolerated, and that there will be punishment for students who pull them.

I think it was a harmless prank- but we're all responsible for our actions. I'd imagine these kids had an idea of what was at stake, and did it anyway- they ought to face the consequences. IMO that lesson is being muted by all the whining about political correctness.

So, what did they do wrong? I really don't see what was the issue. What if they all walked to school, or if they all rode thier bikes, or if they all wore the same color t shirts? I really don't see the problem/Prank. They all showed up to school, right. No damage was done, no negative impact was presented.

When I was a senior, we had a senior skip day where most of our school's seniors participated. It was a good size school, and apparently we cost the school money by not being there, so we were punished with in school suspension.

I agree that if you present a negative action, you should expect a negative reaction. But, I just don't see the negative action to start with. I wonder if I was to drive my lawn tractor to work, if I would be punished. I believe that they would be happy just that I showed up.

The negative action was disobeying administrators requests and creating a distraction for the rest of the students. Administrators told them not to pull any pranks, they did it anyway.

If my boss tells me not to do something, I don't do it- or I do it anyway, and face the consequences. It doesn't bug me that the kids pulled the prank or broke the rules. What bugs me is they don't seem inclined to face the repercussions, and instead of teaching them that it's part of being an adult, folks are trying to make an exception for them.

Looks to me that ultimately the joke is on the administration, 2 days off of school, still get to take finals, and won't affect scholarships, looks to me like they got 2 free vacation days. I got suspended from high school for a week and had all my homework done within a few hours, and it would have been a nice week off had my parents not made me mow the pasture with a push mower, brush hogs are much easier!

"still get to take finals"..... Many districts allow kids to be exempt from these as a reward for good behavior, perfect attendance, etc. Getting to take the finals is not a reward. They will lose credit for any work they miss during the suspension as well.

If the joke is on the administration their parents should pay a price as well for not having something for them to do besides take 2 days off school. I was suspended from school for senior skip day as well, it was not a vaction day for me, my folks were pissed. It seems as if they have done some good things with their "fame" hopefully the time spent for the suspension will be the mowing.

School administers who think that people obey rules for fear of punishment do not live in the real world. In the real world people do the right thing because it's the right thing.

You know with the Internet anything anybody does is immediately known to seven billion people. It is likely this same exact prank played itself out in dozens of other high schools and went unpunished and unknown. But the overeaction of the administration of this school makes this instance an Internet sensation.

The story continues..the boys sold tshirts "Commerating" this whole scenario at $20.00 each. They've so far raised $5000.00 to be donated to Children's Hospital in Little Rock.

Also, while on suspension, they have been mowing lawns for free for folks unable to do it.

Sounds like the make - ins of an annual event to me...
