rps Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 Start with the good: I lost count, but believe I caught more than 40 top water fish today. Some bad: 17.5 inches was the largest. Good: Did have five keeps. Bad: All five would have weighed 6 pounds. Good: Hundreds of ledge nests visible. Half had fish on them. Bad: Can't tell you where. Good: Caught the largest white bass for me in a long time while trolling for walleye. Bad: Didn't catch a walleye. Neutral observation: When I came in I noticed the marina dock was infested with largemouths holding under the walkway between slips. Hope the above helps someone get on fish.
rps Posted April 29, 2012 Author Posted April 29, 2012 Forgot to add - had to pull a Whaler back to the ramp. It's the time of year when people bring the boat to the lake to see if it runs.
buddygr53 Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 i was there this week end where did you see nest all the water i found down from kimberling to the dam was so dark you could see nothing
crazy4fishin Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 rps - I had to laugh at the second post....all though I am not sure what a whaler is I can almost envision it. Recently up here there was a guy that sat at the dock and tried and tried to get his boat started....got it started, went a ways and it just flat quit. I know service is expensive but the few $$$ spent to put the boat to bed at the end of the season will make sure there is no one telling a story about pulling one back to the dock on a forum for all to read. Just glad you were there to help Crazy4fishinA Cornhusker
dtrs5kprs Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 i was there this week end where did you see nest all the water i found down from kimberling to the dam was so dark you could see nothing Clearer in the end RPS frequents. Meaning the opposite one. RPS...great post! Looks to me like things are moving post spawn around Kimberling. Fish waking on the banks and some this a.m. in the middles of the coves.
Champ188 Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 Good on you for not telling all about those bedding fish. I think some of us can figure it out.
buddygr53 Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 hey champ i wont be back until sept of this year so it does not make any differance to me if its told where they were. i was just saying i was down there and the water was dark everywhere i went. I believe all bass fishing should stop while the fish are on the beds.
Bill Babler Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 The clear line is just about Campbell Point. further up the White River you go the clearer it gets. Jerry Snider always catches bedding fish and wins tons of dcerbys out of the White River in May. I always get a kick at folks thinking the spawn is over in April. "Every year the spawn is over before it really starts." This is a big Pond and Mother Nature does not put all her eggs in one basket. These K's are just getting started good. Just cause you don't see beds, does not mean a thing, especially from the Kings River on up to Beaver Dam. Beck caught K's yesterday in 20' plus that were fat as toads and a few leaking eggs. I found several locations a few years ago up at Shell Knob dragging a Fish Dr. in 15 to 24 ft. that were full of spawning K's. This was the end of May. Great Post RPS cannot tell you how much we appreciate your insight from the upperend. http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
skeeter Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 i was there this week end where did you see nest all the water i found down from kimberling to the dam was so dark you could see nothing Anybody want to offer any theories on why the Rock is still so off-color ? It's been about four weeks since the 3" + rain and not much since then, then the turn-over followed by all the water flushed out of Beaver meaning they were running water thru the dam at TR. Algae bloom maybe ??
Bill Babler Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 Yes on the Algae bloom. This water stayed as warm as I have ever seen it thru the Winter. It is clearing somewhat, but is not muddy color but algae color. Campbell Point and up is not effected. It is really pretty up there. Fantastic topwater fishing from about Big Creek up early till the sun hits the water. About the only place on the lake this is happening. Most everything we are catching is LM. K's are keeping their heads down. This fishing is good up thru the country RPS prowls. Take a trip someday and launch at Eagle Rock or Holiday Island and work your way back towards Campbell Point. There is no finer water on Table Rock Lake. It is what it is. You are not usually going to catch huge fish up there, but there is plenty of action and the fish and country are magnificent. Remember this also the pictures of the two Small Jaws I'm holding on the Table Rock Lake Header were caught and released near Big M marina. My largest Jaw a 6.3 pounder was caught and released between Big M and Eagle Rock. Just simple Gods end of the lake. My largest K, a 5.1 pounder was caught at the old 86 swimming beach and my best LM at over 9 pounds was caught on a floater at Baxter.
