stlfisher Posted June 27, 2012 Posted June 27, 2012 If the Mother-in-law likes Grandkids, your set for life. My mother-in-law is crazy about kids and we have actually talked about that. My fiance say on Sundays she has no problem taking the kids to see grandma!
TRRANGER Posted June 27, 2012 Posted June 27, 2012 Does your fiance have a single sister, with a boat and labrador?
stlfisher Posted June 27, 2012 Posted June 27, 2012 Unfortunately, no sisters, no labrador, and no boats. I do need to get me a canoe/kayak soon.
10pointer Posted June 28, 2012 Posted June 28, 2012 Yupp had the word "obsessed" and "neglected" when it came to me fishing. She said i had a problem....i told her yes i do nd its you babe! That didnt fly too well so i moved out and broke off an almost 2yr relationship about 3 weeks ago. Never been happier. Not only was the fishing a problem it was everyyyything. But ask her and she was perfect. That brad paisley song about im gonna miss her was a perfect fit for me. Absolutely gorgeous girl...but its a give and take, and i gave and she took lol.

Greasy B Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 you'll find another that fits you better. Every time my buddy sees a beautiful hot chick he always says " I bet somebody somewhere is tired of putting up with her crap!" Yep it happened to me, found a wonderful women who doesn't nag at all. I try to be cosiderate and spend as much time as possible with her, since she doesn't bitch at me thats pretty easy. I'm loving life. He becomes captain of the Greasy Bastard, a small ship carrying rubber goods between England and Burma. Michael Palin, Terry Jones, 1974
cnr Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 I agree with the advance notice. If it's planned out there is no problem. The other thing that works out great is the annual trip. Every year my wife knows I will be gone the first week of April Steelhead fishing. This is a no negotiation deal and has been that way since long before we were married. For all of you young guys out there put your stake in the ground early and she will know what to expect. Of course all this goes with giving extra attention when you are home. Flowers, pitching in on the things she hates to do, special dinners, etc. Ya gotta grease the wheel to keep it from squeaking!
UnCivE Posted July 4, 2012 Posted July 4, 2012 Eh... I'm still working on this issue. Been married like 9 years and have a 20 month old little girl. Before the baby, I'd spend probably 15-20 hours a week on the water. . . Now, wife works shift work (12's) and only has a couple days off a week. A lot of times, she's working nights and days and sleeps virtually all the time she's off. Basically, till the kid gets old enough, I'm doing my best to fish when both sleep (wife and daughter) or plan for grandma to have her for a day on the weekend every once in awhile. I fish 2-3 times a week for 3-4 hours at a time. It's rough, but you gotta do what you gotta do.

I'm extremely lucky to have Grandma from China living with us, the ultimate in taking good care of the little one and loyalty to the family. I travel quite a bit for my job and take off every once in a while to go fishing with no worries. "Honor is a man's gift to himself" Rob Roy McGregor
