oneshot Posted July 5, 2012 Posted July 5, 2012 Yelp seen this pair while Snagging this Spring oneshot
eric1978 Posted July 5, 2012 Posted July 5, 2012 Saw a pair of juvenile eagles on Table Rock this weekend, looked like they were just learning to fly. Mom or dad was out on the lake diving on fish. I would think that they would eat a lot of gar, seeing how gar hang so close to the top of the water in the summer, and TR has a lot of gar. I don't know...to eat a gar would be like trying to gnaw through a leather cowboy boot.
Midwest troutbum Posted July 8, 2012 Posted July 8, 2012 Iv'e noticed a bald eagle nesting on the upper Meramec. Nice to see such a majestic creature first hand. Members P_L Posted July 8, 2012 Members Posted July 8, 2012 Havnt seen any this year but got a few pics of this guy last year on one of the more quiet sections of the middle mac. I have seen them from far away in QueticoPP but this was the 1st one i had seen fairly up close, and the 1st one i had seen in Missouri so it made for a almost spiritual experience. Members Tom Usher Posted September 20, 2012 Members Posted September 20, 2012 There's been a pair of eagles hanging around the Meramec just below Robertsville State Park this year. I've seen them often around the Shaw's Arboretum's property on the bend when I'm fishing that stretch. There was another pair, maybe the same one, up around Moselle early in the spring.
Geoff Posted September 21, 2012 Posted September 21, 2012 That must be the same pair a gal I work with saw yesterday on the Meremec down by Campbell Bridge. Saw an adult and a juvi "When you do things right, people wont be sure you've done anything at all."
snap Posted September 21, 2012 Posted September 21, 2012 This past winter, saw over 30 at one time hanging out in the trees and diving into a holding pond/slough at the old Marina in Ste Genevieve. It is nearly on the Mississippi River....the slough was low and beginning to freeze over and they were feasting on fish......sat in my truck and watched for nearly 30 minutes. One of the prettiest sights of nature I think I ever saw!!! You can go there during the winter and see some almost every time....but nothing like that!!!
Justin Spencer Posted September 21, 2012 Posted September 21, 2012 ....the slough was low and beginning to freeze over and they were feasting on fish...... Just a flying otter with a white head, we need to do something about them eating our fish.
