Jason Essary Posted July 7, 2012 Posted July 7, 2012 Boys, Im with more restrictions, but without someone on the water to enforce them, it will do no good. Tried to fish point 7 the other day, between the first and second bouy. I had 3 treetops from 6" to 18" under water around the boat while I was sitting there, and had 3 sets of tubers and ski'ers run past me over the point within reach of a long spook cast multiple times. Someone or sadder some child is going to get hurt in this low water being dragged into one before the summer is over. I feel sorry for the poor kid(s) it happens too. As for the owner of the boats, crossing MARKED shallow points, cutting around anglers and the such, I dont feel bad for their boats or props. gramps50 Posted July 7, 2012 Posted July 7, 2012 I have 2 lakes about 10 minutes from my house that are connected my the river, these are old sand pits and not darn lakes. I don't go near them on the weekend because both the lakes and the sourunding river is full of jet skies and pleasure boaters. I have the luxery of being able to fish during the week. The pleasure boaters and jet skiers don't show up til 1 or 2 pm. If I want to fih on the weekend I go to a electric only lake that is also close. Seems that for the most part the above mentioned are not as considerate of others as the fisherman I have met on the lake. On 2 occasions I have seen them put their trailer in the water unload they boat/ski and take off leaving their tow vehicle and trailer sitting on the ramp. I have also see a guy working on his jet ski right at the waters edge on the ramp. Looked to me like he was changing the impeller. We all have the same right to use the water but we all need to respect the rights of the others to use the same. I try and stay away from them and expect them to do the same. A little common sense goes a long way. Some of the jet skiers think the No Wake bouys are there to see how close they can some to them, on the outside of the No Wake Zone of course. Probably if we went to a poser boater forum they would be complaining about us being in their way too.

Tfsh4bass Posted July 7, 2012 Posted July 7, 2012 With the way things have gotten on Table Rock I just avoid it all together from the middle of June until Sept...unless the lake is high and they can't launch. I fish Bull, Stockton, Truman, strip pits, rivers, small conservation lakes, etc. during that time every year because I don't care to deal with the craziness anymore.
Members Ultralance12 Posted July 7, 2012 Members Posted July 7, 2012 I have been hoping they found a way to regulate or outright ban the boats designed to throw huge wakes but had I bought one it would severely hack me off. I feel the ozark lakes are a bit different and their narrow shape causes them to be a much bigger problem than on some o the more wide open lakes I used to visit in Oklahoma and Texas. With most of the lake (especially on the upper end) a narrow channel all the boats tend to be going in the same lanes and it compounds the problem. I'm not sure the solution and I'm sure whatever it is it will seriously tick some people off and im also certain they will find away around whatever restrictions are put in place. I think some courtesy would go along way from some of these guys. For example, when 3 pontoon boats are tied up together in a smaller cove, don't make repeated runs up and down the channel 50' away with max wake. I know I stay the hell out of the water with my bass boat when they are out in full force. Everyone needs to be allowed to do what they like on the water but we don't want TR to become like lake of the ozarks either. P.S. I also vote for banning the out of water exhaust systems. Some of those boats are ridiculously loud.

Cutting points seems to have become the local method of operation, be it bass boat or pleasure. Have seen some ridiculous cuts, around #7 as Jason describes, in some of the shallower spots around #9, and across some of the big runouts with wood on up the White, others that make me cringe. It only takes a few extra seconds at even 50mph to go around instead of across. It is almost like people get off on the danger of running through the wood. Really, if that is the goal just go to Truman, Smithville, Mark Twain. Don't have to try hard to hit stuff up there. It does seem like the ski/play crowd is getting up earlier (to avoid themselves?). Saw a lot of folks at it before 8am around Schooner and 13Hwy. Hope Bill is on the right track with his info, but never trust a legislator to do the right thing if $$$ is in play.
Jason Essary Posted July 7, 2012 Posted July 7, 2012 To be clear, I have no problem with them being out there. They get to use it as we do. But if when Im sitting still and I can hit them when I cast, they are extremely to close. Wonder what they would think of a spook hitting their gelcoat? Second, Im worried about those little kids I saw in the tubes. Its almost neglect to put those kids in that danger. If I thought they would have stopped and listened, I would have told them about the trees, but anyone coming that close to me over and over probably would not have listended to my warnings. CMAC Posted July 7, 2012 Posted July 7, 2012 For whatever reason this year I have seen an alarming amount of people bow riding (one in particular was stradling the trolling motor) in boats operated at high speeds. Very dangerous and I believe illegal.
KCRIVERRAT Posted July 7, 2012 Posted July 7, 2012 I wonder how many boaters know what a danger buoy looks like? I've seen boats cuttin' inside of them when they're placed far from the bank on an extended for instance. So many newbies or ignorant people not paying attention. But as Mr. Rapp says, they deserve to be there.... and they deserve what comes to them too. HUMAN RELATIONS MANAGER @ OZARK FISHING EXPEDITIONS
