Drbucketmouth57 Posted July 25, 2012 Posted July 25, 2012 I`m hoping the Old Farmers Almanac is right about rain this fall. Maybe this pattern will break soon. http://www.almanac.com/weather/longrange/region/us/10
Justin Spencer Posted July 25, 2012 Posted July 25, 2012 Looks like it kind of missed it to this point, hope it starts to hit! mic Posted July 25, 2012 Posted July 25, 2012 The experts are saying this patter will hold through October. Hope they are wrong.
Smalliebigs Posted July 25, 2012 Posted July 25, 2012 Mike, I think it depends on what experts you listen to.......the ring of fire if you will that is created by the dome of high pressure will be moving west allowing for a northern flow over us and will make for much more normal temps with good rain chances evry third day or so.....if that pattern sticks. that is a big if, but they Farmers Almanac is actually right in line with most of the very recent models. I really hope and pray they are right. *** pay close attention to the last paragraph *** http://www.hpc.ncep.noaa.gov/discussions/hpcdiscussions.php?disc=pmdepd
Wayne SW/MO Posted July 25, 2012 Posted July 25, 2012 I hope they are right smallieb, but we really need to get back to normal rainfall as a minimum. The drought really started last year and they generally last awhile, but we can hope this is a short one as they go. Our weather patterns are heavily influenced by the Pacific and the El Nina and Nino. Here's some more bad news. http://www.cpc.ncep.noaa.gov/products/predictions//multi_season/13_seasonal_outlooks/color/churchill.php Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
stlfisher Posted July 26, 2012 Posted July 26, 2012 That pattern change that Smalliebigs is talking about is really trying to break down the ridge as we head into next week. We will be right on the edge...in the northwest flow with some rain chances if it holds. However, the models have been underestimating the strength of the ridge all summer....so it is gonna be tough...but some much neeed rain could be heading our way next week. Should see some rain across southern/southeastern parts of MO today. The timing of the cold front and outflow boundry from leftover thunderstorms this morning will most likely diminish chances for the central region unless the cloud's can dissapate. So it won't rain for everyone....makes for a tough forecast later today.
Wayne SW/MO Posted July 26, 2012 Posted July 26, 2012 I hope you're right in your forecast, but the radar isn't very encouraging at the present time. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
stlfisher Posted July 26, 2012 Posted July 26, 2012 Starting to pop up a bit south of 44. Looks like a severe thunderstorm watch has been issued. might want to keep your eyes peeled if you are south of 44 this afternoon. It probably won't rain for everyone, but some locations may get a decent shot of rain.. Won't be enough to impact the drought, but better than nothing I suppose.
moguy1973 Posted July 26, 2012 Posted July 26, 2012 Skipped right over the I44 corridor today...This morning there was a nice line of rain and storms through the NW quadrant of Missouri, and that all but dissipated this afternoon. Now it is starting to blow up to the south, I guess where they need it the most, but STL keeps getting missed and we need it up here to! -- JimIf people concentrated on the really important things in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing poles. -- Doug Larson
Jerry Rapp Posted July 26, 2012 Posted July 26, 2012 here's a good site to watch for you weather watchers. 6 to 10 day temp/precip forecast. On the left side tool bar is a link to click on for the 8 to 14 day outlook. I would say they are usually accurate around 75% of the time. They get updated around 2:30 each afternoon. http://www.cpc.ncep.noaa.gov/products/predictions/610day/index.php
