johnboy2bfishin Posted August 4, 2012 Posted August 4, 2012 the difference i see is i the rattles and lip angle other than that the colors might be better than old but way to many colors just need a few and leave it at that
Champ188 Posted August 5, 2012 Posted August 5, 2012 I think it is possible to get a single bad bait in both the old and "new old ones" ... i.e. the Original Series. Most of mine are the new ones, which I buy and have professionally painted in a couple of pet colors. Once I get them tuned right, they work like a charm. Never underestimate the power of suggestion ... many guys who have a certain old lure want to put it in your head that they have it, you don't and therefore they can catch every fish in the lake and you will never get another bite in your miserable life. I'm exaggerating a bit for emphasis, but that's the concept. Don't buy into it. That's exactly what they want you to do.
Guest Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 This thread got me excited about fall cranking. Im going to test run all the warts in my box, then paint all of them in my "pet color"... The late summer/early fall cool down is just around the corner. Things are looking up.
Quillback Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 If it's top secret, I understand, but if not - what are your pet colors?

abkeenan Posted August 9, 2012 Author Posted August 9, 2012 Here are my custom paint patterns I had done on some pre rapala warts. Went with a color I thought most closely matched the long pincered crayfish in Table Rock, the olive/brownish color with blue accents and orange dots/accents. The other color was just kinda close to my favorite v209 color in the original warts and a little chartreuse on any bait never hurts IMO.

mixermarkb Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 Where did you have those done? I have several pre-rapala warts that I need done before wart season this fall.
