moguy1973 Posted May 23, 2014 Posted May 23, 2014 It's a catch 22, softer craws have better action and get more strikes but don't last.....but harder plastic obviously lasts longer. Yep, and it sucks when you catch a fish on them and see that both claws are intact and the fish shakes his head at the boat and off go flying both claws. I need to try some Z-man Flappin Crawz or Turbo Crawz to see if the ElaZtech is any more durable on that rig. -- JimIf people concentrated on the really important things in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing poles. -- Doug Larson
5bites Posted May 23, 2014 Posted May 23, 2014 I've had my best luck with SK Rage Craws rigged on a Rage Rig. It's basically a swimbait hook with a spring keeper and looks like this: It works well with other craws and I've used Netbait Paca craws and Berkley chigger craws but the Rage Craws seem to have the best action on that rig. The only problem with the Rage Craws is that the claws aren't the most durable and tend to break off pretty easily (or even torn off by panfish) Does it skip better setup like this rather than Texas rig? I swim paca craws around docks at grand quit a bit but Texas rig it. Obviously around docks skipping is important.

The turbo crawz seem to hold up better than a say a SK craw or PACA craw, but i'm not sure they have the action

Obviously around docks skipping is important. I don't think that they skip any better that if they were texas rigged, but they do give a better presentation as they fall and as they sit on the bottom because of the positioning of the weight on the hook. -- JimIf people concentrated on the really important things in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing poles. -- Doug Larson

Right on. I'll give it a shot this summer. Thanks for the reply.
Kelroy Posted May 24, 2014 Posted May 24, 2014 Referring back to the bitsy bug jigs, I was quite amused at Academy in Cape G when I saw that they are now making "bitsy chunks" especially for them.
LarrySTL Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 If they are as good as the samples MItch had at MSA quite a few months ago, those are the best I have ever seen. Until we get to the head of the line for those, I bumped into these at Wally World a couple weeks ago, made by Arkie, "Salty BS soft craw jr". Very salty, pretty soft, cheap. They are a touch less than 3 " long. The ruler is metal and reflecting terribly and I am too poor a photographer to compensate, but the paper clip is 1 & 3/16 " http://intervenehere.com
drew03cmc Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 I'll be selling these towards the later part of this year.. they will come in a 3" and a 4" with one or two colors. Mitch, let me know when these are available. What colors will you be selling? Andy
Mitch f Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 Mitch, let me know when these are available. What colors will you be selling? I'm just now trying to come up with those, any 2 color suggestions? "Honor is a man's gift to himself" Rob Roy McGregor
