jdmidwest
Ha. You're baiting me. Fishing, aquatics and conservation only on this forum. While it has nothing to do with the thread, I would be interested in a civil way to know the answer to the question. Do you think the country is better than it was 4 years ago? Since you brought it up. "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S. Thompson
Tim Smith
No, J.D. Your tag line introduced politics into the thread. No matter what side it supports, your tagline is completely political and it's out of context on the forum. Phil has been very clear that he will tolerate topics with political overtones but he's not interested in having his forum become a platform for one candidate or another or one party or another. If you want to go down that road, that's your call but you're going there without me.

Quillback
Speaking of worms, I read a book several years ago about the invasive species brought over by Europeans during colonial times. As I recall, the worms we have now in the US were all introduced species.

As I recall, the worms we have now in the US were all introduced species. That's apparently true. They've completely changed nutrient cycling dynamics in North American forests. http://www.nrri.umn.edu/worms/forest/index.html
Outside Bend
Not sure about the whole US, but most of the earthworms found in northern areas of the country are introduced (not enough time since the last glaciation for native worms to recolonize the area). And they're having a pretty pronounced effect on forest communities up there. <{{{><
