When Fishing/hiking, Do You Carry A Handgun?

Tim made my point for me...MY chances of getting hit by a drunk driver are better. If you look at crime statistics vs. drunk driving statistics in my rural county or the rural places I usually drive, I'm pretty sure you'll find the statistics greatly favor drunk driving. Extend it to the fact that I know better than to be in the rough parts of St. Louis after dark unless I'm driving through without stopping, and the same would hold true. Add also the fact that many, if not most, violent crimes outside the urban areas happen at home, and you get the same result. (And as I said before, I DO have the shotgun for home protection.) It's a good example of using what are probably real statistics that don't tell the whole story. And, of course, the point is that the chances of either needing the firearm or needing an armored vehicle to protect myself from drunk drivers are low enough that I don't see the need to carry or to drive an armored HummVee.

I believe the second amendment most definitely gives us all the right to own firearms, and no gun control law will stop violent crime, or even slow it down much. I don't question your right to carry, I'm questioning the paranoia that seems to be impelling you to do so.

Al, you never seemed like the kinda guy to get a jab in at the end of a well thought out rebuttal. I guess I was wrong.

There is no limit to what a man can do or how far he can go if he doesn't mind who gets the credit

Paronoia and Preventitive measure are two things. I started carrying because I use to carry large amounts of cash or cashiers checks on me and had to go into bad areas sometimes to collect them and get them out. A concealed yet obvious weapon I can assure you stopped several issues from happening. It would be nice if the world was a happy happy joy joy kumbaia singing place but truth is it is NOT. So people need to take precautions. A CC is just one of many kinda like motorcycle helmets. You may not ever need it but when you do you need it right then and there.

Be darn if I'd get into a gun fight over some money that's insured, and isn't even mine.

What makes ya think someone is gonna walk up on ya and try to take it, verses taking you out from 50-60 yards and grabbing the loot on their way out of there?

Wouldn't that be the way to take something from a dude that's wearing a leather jacket in the middle of July?

So do you have a problem with Constitutional Carry?

I am confused by the question.

I was puzzled by the statement, are you for or against Constitutional Carry? You made the statement in a sarcastic way.

I am all for the training portion for anyone to carry any type of firearm. Hunter Ed and the courses for CCW are great training. Since society has changed and fathers don't always show their offspring the basics of firearms handling, we have to rely on others to show them.

JD, I saw a great movie sequal last night.

"The Good, The Bad, and The Senile".

Best comedy put out in a while...

Nope, it was still "The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly". Did you see the hair? Looks like the lap dance back stage roughed him up a little.........

But he still carried the crowd.
