Members workingdude Posted October 9, 2012 Members Posted October 9, 2012 i won't read any politics on here as i'm glad our conservation dept is removed from such. sad to see some people have a micro message in the topics. shows me they are wanting to broadcast their politics on here and not fishing. i try to ignore those comments and skip them. facebook is just about taken over by politics. if you think that it's that important to tell someone what party you belong to, do you do it with your religion, ethniticity, baseball team, football? just wondering. the best christians i know, never told me they are one. the people who tell me what party they belong to or ask what i am, rarely are.
Jerry Rapp Posted October 10, 2012 Posted October 10, 2012 so you throw religion into this? And you won't read politics on this forum. I think you just did. It sort of makes you look like an idiot.
Feathers and Fins Posted October 10, 2012 Posted October 10, 2012 Im partake in a forum about politics on occassion, It normally turns to Democrat bashing or Republican Bashing blah blah blah same ole same ole... I like the talks here much more civil and adult. Its nice to talk about them knowing the people here would share a creek or lake togeather and treat eachother that way. A political forum might be nice to try out. Or maybe just Current events for discusssion forum where you can talk about current events including politics as it seems most political talk comes from current events. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
Al Agnew Posted October 10, 2012 Posted October 10, 2012 The problem with internet discussion boards is that you're pretty much anonymous when you post, and aren't confronting anybody face to face, so you can be as "tough" as you want to be with no consequences. If we were all sitting around a campfire discussing politics, most of us would be more civil and reasonable than we tend to be on a message board. In fact, people tend to be much more radical and set in their ways on a message board than in real life...otherwise, there would be a lot of people on here that I probably COULDN'T stand to be in the same boat with.
Feathers and Fins Posted October 10, 2012 Posted October 10, 2012 True True Al, and pretty fair observation. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
Justin Spencer Posted October 10, 2012 Posted October 10, 2012 I typically won't talk politics face to face with someone because it does nothing but upset people. Like many have said here, most people's minds are made up and arguing won't change anything. I enjoy chatting here because you are people I've already talked hunting and fishing with and I like to see what you have to say. It is also easy to look arguements up to see if the facts are there or not with the internet right here. Face to face is kind of like a debate where you can say anything and if you say it well it makes you look good. I've learned quite a bit from these discussions and even have altered my position on some issues thanks to intellegent arguements. As a workingdude once said, the best politicians i know, never told me they were one, or something like that. Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted October 10, 2012 Root Admin Posted October 10, 2012 Yea- this topic had it's day and I'm closing it. But in the future, calling people an "idiot" is uncalled for and will get a topic shut down every time.
