Other then a trout (rainbow or brown)...

What has been some of the wierdest things (fish) you all have caught out of Taneycomo... Explain!!

I remember these..

a walleye this pass summer (24 inches on a fly rod) in the run between the rebar and the big hole...

a smallmouth a few years back (22 inches on a Matzou Minnow) Downtown branson by the old gravel bar in the campground. They had 4 generators going (the island was completely covered)..

a sucker on a fly rod useing a jig

2 suckers at the same time.. but useing only 1 (single point) hook... I was fishing one the docks by the Lake Queen with night crawlers.. and as I was setting the hook.. one sucker got wrap around the fishing line.. and I hooked the other in the mouth..

Anybody else do any thing weird??

Nothing really weird about catching bass or walleye in Taney... Taney is one of the best lake in MO for catching lunker bass over 10 pounds. I've seen bass bedding in a creek off Taney that weigh well over 12-13-14 pounds. It's a well kept secret and locals don't want it to get out.

Also- lower Taney is one of the best blue gill lakes around. Big blue gill and great in the summer on popping bugs.

Crappie and white bass- oh yes... but don't tell anyone.

One summer Brian Rea and I broke off 6 spinner baits on the 4th of July - 100 degrees out mid day just down from Rockaway Beach on BIG bass... we just couldn't get them in!!

I'm sure there's pleny of stories of big bass but it's hard to get people to talk about those close-to-the-vest secret spots.

One other story about Taney... Rick Osenga grew up in Branson. He used to work on the Sammy Lane back in the 60's as a driver and pirate. He told me they used to go down on their dock at night and jump and pound the deck of the dock close to the stalls to knock the scuds off the floatation, then drop a jig down and catch 4-5-6-7-8 lb rainbows like they were going out of style.

My father caught a 4-5lb white bass below the dam one night several years ago. He caught it on a woolie bugger. I know that different parts of the lake hold different kinds of fish, but I was suprised to see a white bass that far up.

I have caught bluegill up at the cable.. right below the dam with the water off.

After they finally shut the flood gates a couple years back - white bass were everywhere. It was like nothing I had ever seen before. Current from the 4 units running and being connected to a 3lb white bass. It was stellar!

Another thing I saw one night was Rod Titus catch about a 7lb flathead catfish below outlet 2. He had to literally drag it in as it was so cold and lethargic. He let it go to!

happy holidays all - Brian

Just once I wish a trout would wink at me!

I have a largemouth mounted that I caught down around Rockaway in 1987. It was like 8 lbs. I caught a couple others in that range. You aren't just kiddin about the big bass in Taney.

Don't worry- I've been telling people and writing about it for years... and it's still not fished hard at all.

Besides, this isn't Field and Stream.

While you guys are in the secret telling mood, I have always wanted to fish for bass on Taneycomo

but have absolutely no idea where to start. How far up toward the dam can you catch them, where do you launch, etc. I have fished T-Rock for years and would like to try something new. Thanks for any information that you guys can share.
